Mr. SoProud is a PIKE and, if possible, even prouder of his GLO than I am of mine (though in a very chapter specific way). We met at a Pike/Alpha Xi exchange -- and three other couples that met that night got married, too! He was chapter advisor of his chapter when I was CA of mine, too cute. It sure helps when I do my volunteer work that he understands my drive to stay involved. Plus, I get to wear a gorgeous diamond and garnet Pike pin next to my Quill!!

greek s/o?
My boyfriend isn't greek at all, and in fact is entirely against the whole concept. He has been asked to be a Sinfonian so many times but each time he gives them some sort of rude rejection. He wasn't really supportive of me when I rushed SAI, but he's learned to deal w/ it. Part of it comes from the fact he dated our former chapter president and he has a lot of bad memories of her. What a drama king he is!!! But nonetheless, I do love him, and I hope I can show him that it is a meaningful experience.
Roses,
H.

My husband is a Phi Kappa Tau, and I am a KKG. We met way after I graduated from college. I never even dated anyone Greek when I was in school and ended up marrying a Fraternity man! It's really nice though because he supports all of the alumnae stuff I do!

My bf is non greek. We have been together for 2 years (so pretty much my whole college life so far). When i decided to be greek he wasn't really all for it. But he got used to it and now hangs out with the Lambda Chi's, Phi Sigs, Sig Nu...almost every fraternity on campus. He still to this day will not be greek though. Not because he hates the greek system, just because he doesn't have anytime to put into a fraternity.

My husband is not greek. He did go through rush (we went to the same school... there are about 25 fraternities on campus) but he didn't see anything he liked. He really didn't understand my sorority involvement, but he accepted it as a commitment that I had made long before I met him.

My husband is not greek but has been supportive since day one. We met in high school but did not date until I went away to school. I have been extremely involved as an alumna and he is still supportive!

Hubby didn't go Greek at Iowa even though he did live in one of the fraternity houses..can't remember which one. Now he's a very supportive squirrel-lover!

My fiance is a member of Delta Upsilon. I like the fact that I can go to their initiation and everything. It helps me understand a part of him that he will never understand about me (since DZ is secret).

If you go to page 2 of Angelos he is the first victim of "Alumni Spotlight." You also get to see a drunk picture of my husband, a picture of a very lucky guy, and our new car

Interesting story-
My last boyfriend was a Phi Mu Alpha. My Best friend is ALSO a Phi Mu Alpha. Before that I dated three guys in Sigma Lambda Kappa, and an LXA.
And all of these guys I dated....
BEFORE I WAS GREEK!
Ever since I pledged I have had the hardest time getting a date!

Given the choice, I always preferred to date greeks.....actually I guess you could say I exclusively dated greeks. It was more fun...they had mixers and date parties and formals to go to, and you could go hang around their house with your sisters. They didn't think our events were stupid and since everyone knew everyone it was always fun to be at stuff and see them there with their friends. I also felt that only a guy in a fraternity would understand my dedication to and time spent with my sorority. When I first started college I was still dating my HS boyfriend and I really pushed him to rush because I was going to. He did, but he wasn't really into it. I remember wasting money buying him a letter sweatshirt. He pledged a mediocre chapter that he didn't really click with, and dropped out shortly therafter....he never did get it why I was so interested in my chapter. A lot of times non-greek boyfriends (or girlfriends) got resentful of the time the guys and girls had to spend together during things like Homecoming or songfest.
Also, I loved getting lavaliered and pinned before we got engaged. Pinning was pretty rare at my school because the guys never wanted to give up their badges, but lavaliering was popular and I never understood GDIs giving a girl her own letters. What is the significance of that? It's certainly a nice gesture, but the whole point of lavaliering (I thought) was that it showed that the guy loved you enough to share his letters with you and show the world that you are his. Anyway...
I am so glad I married a greek.....Homecoming is so much fun for us and both of our children are legacies. I wouldn't have it any other way.
