The fashion disasters of the 80's...

I was pining away for a pair of white cowgirl boots, with faux leather fringe and turquoise bedazzles. Goodness.

Spandex (monochromatically matched with oversized shirt dresses with the ruffles on the bottom)

Double socks

Plastic shirt rings (Do you remember bunching up your shirts to the side and putting them through these rhinestone plastic contraption?)

In addition...

My obsession with Roald Dahl books

My recesses spent in the library, reading Shakespeare's Julius Ceasar in 3rd grade. (OK...so I was a nerd, but my parents liked to call me precocious ) Haha.

Truth or Dare

The insane anticipation that went along with feildtrips.

When being sent to the principal's office was comparable to being sentenced to death by a teacher.

Awful lunch ladies.

The time I got sent to the principal's office by the lunch lady, Rosie, for throwing my cafeteria lunch tray at one of the boys.

My trepidation of the big mechanical gorilla playing the organ at Chuck E Cheese (a kid's fun zone).

Being a flower girl in my mom's best friend's wedding. I made it half way down the aisle, froze up, ran into the closest unoccupied pew, and regurgitated Cheerios. Sorry...maybe I should have kept that one to myself.

Claiming the area under the slide as the "Hello Kitty Club" headquarters.

The ability to wake up earlier than noon on Saturday's for the aforementioned Saturday morning cartoon lineup.

My crush on Kirk Cameron.

Oh..and whoever mentioned them previously, YES, OF COURSE I REMEMBER POPPLES! It was all I wanted one Christmas. I still have mine.

Haha...Ok...cut me off. I'm done.

Watching Sale of the Century (withthe lovely Summer Bartholomew - Shout out to Billy O on that one) During Summer break, followed by Press your luck withthe Whammies. - then The Price is Right. I think I crushed on Holly (Barker Beauty for like 10 years. Janice scared me. I still think she is a man.) (all the while Bob was bangin' em between showcases.)

smurfs - they were on for like 3 hours every saturday morning.

Those Great Starts frozen breakfasts. Frozen Breakfasts? How hard is it to fry an egg?

The last day of school in elementry school where we'd all have a picnic in the park and play. It was cool.

Going to Amarillo with my grandparents on saturday in their big ole hooptie cadallac, going to eat at "the chicken place" and then going to Colberts so my grandmother could buy a new wig. lol.

Summers at the countryclub swimming pool. And my dad bitching every month when he got the bill for all the food we ate at the gazebo. The funny part, they would have us out there all day, 10 am to 6 or so when my mom would get off work, but they never gave us any food to eat or anything, so what were we supposed to do, starve? I dont know why we never thought to explain this to my dad either. We just did the same thing every month. hahah.

slip and slides. hells yeah. Theres some risk management issues. I dont know why they didnt just call it "Slip and Slide and Break a Bone."

When my dad had a plumber come out to the house to install a new hose outlet for the backyard, all us kids were there watching...he gets it installed. He leaves...we turn it on and for some reason the water is coming out milky white (I am sure from all the chemicals in the pipes and whathaveyou). So we, being 8 years old, think its milk. We drink it and our parents were taking pictures, thinking its great! I got so many chemicals, my kids will have gills, but at least mom and pop's got good shots!

The way I idolized my big sister for being older. I still idolize her, but for different reasons - what she has done with her life.

How flucking hot the streets were inthe summer. My hometown seal coated them - put a layer of tar down then gravel over that. The tar would bubble up and as kids we went everywhere barefoot. I got so many tar burns.

My go-cart.

How the sound of the ice cream man was enough to cause a kiddy orgasm.

Mrs. Neef's Crabapple tree.

When my dad would buzz the school in his Barron (twin engine small plane) on Mondays and I knew it was him.

Schwann's mini Pizzas.

grandmothers cinnamon toast withthe crusts cut off.

The tv shows: V, Misfits of Science, Haloween the Series, You cant do that on Television, Night Rider

God I am old.

Oh, sweet lifesaver- A lot of your post sounds like what MY son will say when he's older----How hard is it to fry an EGG? The ice cream truck-the country club food bill- how hot-dirty-sweaty but soooo happy after the "last day of school" picnic.

You told it beautifully and made me smile.

That is funny, my dad used to do that in his plane too!! I used to want him to land it on the road in front of our school for show and tell..haha.. We have 3 planes now as the result of my dad's lifelong hobby, but I love to fly so I don't mind!

LOL. Can I join? I'm still not ready to give up Hello Kitty.

I was WAY into Babysitters Club books - had them all through about 65 or so. I'd love to fill in the whole collection.

Watching Game shows on USA during the daytime in the summer. Press Your Luck rocks! We just got Game Show Network here 2 days ago, and I've been glued to it to see Press Your Luck.

The only place I am going to have a chance to say soemthign about Hello Kitty. Sure as hell arent going to start a thread about it. hah.

At "the table" last week (where everyone hangs out between classes), there was this japanese fortiegn exchange studet who was chatting with a professer and wearing a Hello Kitty skirt that was made for a 9 year old, but she was still wearing it, so It was REALLY SHORT. Anyway, she hiked up her backpak and it caught the hem of her shirt, MOONING ALL OF US IN THE BUILDING. She also was not wearing any panties. So there she is all bear assed and in the funniest thing I think i have ever heard in my life, one of my brothers says, "Well helllooooooooo kitty!" hahahah. God I died laughing. hahah.
