Bf & I caught it by accident on the CNN ticker last night during some random story. I thought my eyes were wrong, but Google quickly proved it true...

So young. RIP, Whitney.

I remember the wonderful concert Whitney Houston performed for the returning Gulf War vets back in the early 90s. It was supposed to air only on HBO, but they decided to broadcast it more widely. She was such a gifted performer.

^^We were talking about that on Facebook. And the ringtone site I use no longer has any free Whitney ringtones. All the free ones have been removed and all that's left are ones at $2.99. While it's their right to do so...that sucks. Total morale killer.

Article is kinda wrong. It's not Apple that raise the price but the record company. Apple is just following the price that the record company gave them.

I'm still in shock.

Steve Harvey (this morning) just had on Kellie Price who performed w/ Whitney Wednesday night at what turned out to be Whitney's last public appearance/performance. She set the record straight on a lot of the "noise".

I watched the Grammys to hear J-Hud's tribute (long show to sit through) but J-Hud did it big.

I always held on to the thought that Whitney would make it all the way back. Her voice was so strong and captivating; it seemed she had an extra gear (range) to go to that other singers just did not have.

Like the rest of us, Whitney had bumps in the road, but she did her thing. May God bless her soul, give her rest and strengthen her family and friends.

No one is saying she was a lifestyle role model. I agree with you about viewing this as a cautionary tale. But the creative achievements of her life do deserve praise and adulation, and people who will miss her voice are right to offer them. She was and always will be a standard-setter when it comes to female vocalists. That's one reason that the cautionary tale is so sad.

I feel badly for her daughter. She's 19, lost her mom, dad is Bobby Brown who's on tour right now, had some issues of her own. I hope she has family members who will be able to provide some stability and support for her now and in the future.

Clarification - She's 18 and Bobby is in LA with her as of 9 last night

DEKEGUY, agree!

Do we hold a person with talent to high?

They are just people like each of us and have the sme problems we do.

No matter what, it is such a sad time to lose a person like Whitney.

RIP Baby Girl. You had a good run, but also a tough time!

What ever you may think?

Giving my deepest wishes to a neat lady?

She will of course be missed.

Is there a problem with that?

I am trying to figure out what is wrong with some of you folks.

Exactly. It doesn't matter how she died, statements like "Who cares she dead?? It's her own fault, she brought this on herself" are just flat out rude. She wasn't a saint but she was a person. She was someone's mother, daughter, and friend. To say she doesn't deserve to be mourned is totally unwarranted. This would be true even if she wasn't "The Late, Great Whitney Houston."

I was going to commend him for flying under the radar so long but it looks like he was sniffed out within a few posts.
