They didn't happen to make that comment and name drop La Canada Flintridge did they? If you don't know what I am talking about, I am sure you daughter would.
Those rumors always crack me up. And those same rumors go for some fraternity chapters at SC too!
Granted some chapters may have a trend of girls from certain cities/schools in the SoCal area, but that can be expected with older siblings/parent legacies. But the pledge classes at SC in recent years have been much more diverse than ever before. As I am sure you know, from your own personal experience.

Not even close in area AND only one of the group was going to SC, The mother(s) was very negative about possibilities and was, I believe, trying to discourage all the girls from recruitment.
There may be wishing and hoping for recruitment...but these moms needed the memo that nothing is guaranteed in recruitment, neither a bid, an invitation, or a cut.

if you don't do a good job on your philanthropy craft, you will be dropped.
if you don't laugh at the jokes(often inside jokes no one outside the chapter can understand)during the skit, you will be dropped.
if you don't eat the food(or drink your drink), you will be dropped.

At one school (NOT an AZ school) "if your father doesn't make $$$/your family doesn't own a private island" etc. (indicating massive wealth), you'll get dropped from EEE/RRR/ whatever".
I too have heard the "all the pledge classes have already been selected prior to recruitment starting" rumor. That one absolutely cracks me up. Why don't we just skip recruitment and select all our classes that way? We'd save so much money, the stress levels would plummet, everyone could stay home until classes started instead of working their butts off all summer and coming back to campus when it's 2000 degrees and muggy (or -2000 degrees and ice everywhere).
At UltraCompetitive U, the first round the actives just sing and clap and dance because they don't need to talk to any of the PNMs; they already know who they want to invite to second round parties.
If you're not "pretty/skinny/tanned/blonde" forget about OOO and PPP. WWW only takes the smartest PNMs, if you don't have a 4.0 or close to it, they'll drop you. All the ______ (fill in the blank) girls pledge UUU. And so on and so on.
For the love of Mike, this thread is really funny, and yet very sad at the same time.

The "XYZ has their bid list selected prior to recruitment starting" rumor here is about one or two chapters that seemingly have all legacy pledge classes every year. They have a ton of legacies going through though so even they have to be thinking about which ones they want or if its worth it to drop a few to get a few Miss Perfect Pledges.
Heard the one about don't eat the food or you'll get cut. There is a similar one about don't step on the letters or the crest on the floor or you'll get cut.
One that used to play in my school (20 years ago) is if you want a bid here at XYZ don't talk at all when you go into the next house, so that when they came to our house the PNM wouldn't say anything at all no matter what. That was just mean. At that point, all you can do is pull over a sister that is a talker and have her tell her all about how wonderful being in a sorority is.

I don't see how pointing out things that anyone could have found by doing a search has anything to do with "credibility."

It's a general statement.
Also, personally, I didn't see anything wrong with that person's first post in this thread. She(?) didn't use sorority letters and was completely on topic. I didn't even ID her as a PNM until you started fussing over it. And even afterwards, she said nothing that would hurt her chances without legions of actives pouring over everything she said online trying to find a way to take offense.
If that's what actives are doing, well stop it you wankers.

If you wear X color, that signals to the chapter that you really want them and tells other chapters not to bother inviting you back.
You have to wear very expensive designer clothes and shoes if you want to be invited back to a certain house. Part of the criteria for their membership selection is ranking your outfit and how expensive it is.
If anyone that holds any position from President to girl in charge of taking out the trash talks to you that means that they really really want you.
For one specific sorority, only seniors vote. So if you don't talk to a senior, you won't get invited back. (I have no idea if this is true as part of that sororities membership selection, but it has been a rumor since at least 1997....)

Fussing? Seriously?
Let's be honest, there are things that sorority alums and members can say that if rushees say, they come off sounding like a bitch. She's stated where she's rushing and once you do that, you should probably watch what you say on here, if not everywhere.
But then again, you are right and everyone else is wrong or prejudiced or Southern or a puppet of the patriarchy, so I guess we should all just shut the fuck up.

A rumor I've seen here about a certain chapter at a certain SEC school:
If you touch the outside banister while climbing the stairs, you'll be cut.

One sorority always has a theme that requires everyone to take their shoes off at the door. During the party, a member checks the labels to see who has designer shoes.

That's just middle tier. The top tier can tell just by looking if you're wearing designer shoes! LOL
