It's awfully late for a PNM to be hunting for recs for LSU, so why the phone-calling ? (I know you probably can't say..).

Yep. The people who need to get spanked the most are sometimes the ones who get spanked the least.

I especially love those pnms who think that because my sorority is not on their campus I can do NOTHING to help them . . . 'cause it's not like I'm president of an alumnae panhellenic and LITERALLY know alumnae from 20 of the 26 NPC groups . . . and served as an advisor to two chapters . . . I'm resisting the urge to do anything nasty to Pretty Pretty Princess Snowflake. I'll report the results, for good or ill.

She'll probably get exactly what she wants. As infuriating as it is, it often seems to work that way. Drives me crazy.

She should read justamom's thread about her daughter's LSU rush and the one about the next year too. Lots off surprised PNMs...

Pretty Pretty Princess Snowflake did not get a bid - BUT IT'S OKAY BECAUSE HER AUNT GOT A BID AS A JUNIOR AND SO IT WILL BE SO MUCH BETTER NEXT YEAR.

^^^I love that rationale. Especially if the aunt or other relative rushed something like 20-30 years ago when it was probably totally different.

Back when I was rushing, U of I still used SORUSH, so when I got my list for 2nd invite, I saw that only 5 chapters had invited me. Now, 5 was the maximum number of parties I could attend, but I was a 16-year-old girl sitting next to my rush group friends who all had 9 or 10 invites. I was DEVASTATED.
Fortunately, I had a great Rho Chi, who pulled me aside and told me that she knew two of my favorite chapters were still on the list, and I still had a full schedule, so I should stop crying, pretend these were the only five chapters on campus, and go get some sleep.
And I did, and it was a very good thing.
But as said upthread, a lot of Rho Chis aren't very good. They don't know how to handle situations like that. I literally put the other 14 out of my mind. Back in the dorm, people were comparing lists, and I was like "Are you going back to some of your favorites? Awesome, me too!"
I think PRUSH is a big improvement, because if I had shown up ready to go to parties, seen a list of five, there may have been one or two missing that would have disappointed me, but I would have been over it and off to second invitational in a quick minute.
