But surely they have some sort of compensation for appearing on the show-and just think how it could boost his ability to demand more money for personal appearances, so it is part of the job. I think I would rather have my hubby be gone for a month or two with a 4 month old (or however old their daughter is) versus, say, when a kid is in 6th grade, or as a teenager. And a million bucks, less taxes, and 7 years ago-it goes pretty quickly.

Yes, the amounts haven't been published in a while, but for the first few seasons, the first person voted out received $10K and it went up incrementally from there. Third place ends up around $80K I think, and the runner up gets $150K. Not bad for 39 days of work.

You know something I just though up that would be funny? They should have jeff actually compete on a season.

Finally watched it yesterday. Thought the villainous and hero music was way too cheesy, even for survivor. Other than that, I'm hooked again even though I also haven't watched in a few seasons.

I've been disappointed in both Rupert and James so far this season. I like (well, at this point I guess I should say liked) the Steph/Tom/Colby alliance much more than the James/JT/Rupert alliance. Hopefully, Tom and Colby will be able to convince Cirie and the girl whose name escapes me over to their side. Doubtful, though, after seeing last night's tribal. It'll be interesting to see what happens next...

I too was glad Amanda didn't go home last night. DH & I were really confused about how she was the weak one. I agree that Sugar was probably the weakest last time, but now? I'd lean more toward Cirie- or even James. James is brute force but not a lot else. And he showed his propensity toward bullying last night, which was disappointing. [ETA: by weak I mean not bringing a lot to the table in challenges]
Tom's demeanor impressed me- I didn't really care for him either way in Palau but like him here. I wouldn't mind seeing Candace get further... if for no other reason than so we know who she is and what she can do!
Oh, on the Villains side- I'm glad Boston Rob didn't go home. Yes, he can be annoying and so can his accent. But he's proven himself to be rational & have strong leadership over there. Although if he did go home, I'm pretty sure they would fall apart. It'd be interesting to see who the Villains sent home. Hopefully they'll lose next week to satisfy my curiosity.

I'm finding Rupert to be kind of annoying this season. Maybe he's getting a bad edit, but that's just my take on it.

I agree - I like Tom a lot this season.
Candace! That's her name! (Thanks.) I still don't remember her at all.

I agree about Rupert- I think he is maybe getting too big for his britches. Or tie dye. He always had a bit of a whiny edge to him but he was so darn nice most of the time it made up for it. Now I'm just hearing the whiny bossy side of him.
Oh- did anyone else find the Villains hysterical with their "I can be a better provider than you!" competition? Yes, providing for the tribe is a good thing... but don't be too obvious about it or you could get voted off. Nobody likes a show off, not even the Villains.
Are Danielle's ruffled bottoms driving anyone else nuts? It just seems so inappropriate for being stranded on a deserted island and competing in fierce challenges. I know the producers "helped" them pick out what to wear, but still. I guess they provide comic relief, though, and if I remember nothing else about her I'll remember those darn ruffles.

Haha, yes! I couldn't keep my eyes off of them while she was pushing that huge block. For some reason, they're very distracting!
And when is Russell going to start looking for hidden immunity idols?!

I missed a lot of the dialogue last night, so when I fist saw Russell walking quickly into the jungle, I assumed he was going HII-hunting.
DaffyKD - I don't think we'll see Russell's expression that he wasn't king of last season until this season's final tribal council. I seem to remember the timeline being such that he went straight from last season's filming to this season's, so I don't think he knows he didn't win yet.

Me too. And I'm surprised that the other tribemates aren't keeping more of an eye on him, since he is known to always be on the lookout for HIIs.
Unless Jeff Probst said that they weren't any HIIs and they edited that part out?

Again, as we understand, no one on the show has seen Russell's season because they were filming Heroes vs. Villians while his season was shown on television.
Right?
So they don't know what Russell has done in the past.
