You aren't committing to a lifetime with those people. You are committing to a lifetime with the organizations and its tens to hundreds of thousands of members.

Many of us love the members we bonded with at our collegiate chapters and are excited to keep those bonds for life. However, aspirants should know that 1-3 years as a collegiate member are just a drop in the bucket as long as it isn't a completely unbearable chapter. Plus, aspirants usually don't know what they're talking about. They don't really know the members and aspirants enough to know whether they truly like the people and whether they can bond with them. This is the case at the collegiate and graduate level, but especially at the collegiate level. Some of the best soror bonds and other friendships had EXTREMELY rocky beginnings.

Lastly, depending on the undergraduate and graduate chapters in an area, aspirants can spend a lifetime looking for the perfect mix of people to establish their lifetime commitment.
