Maybe you could paint a black border or something around the front edge of the letters.

Yeah...Our primary colors are crimson and pearl white, and our secondary colors are palm green and gold.
I got the shape of the letters and color scheme from this button...

I second that. Any larger letters I've seen have had a border of some sort - usually the same color as the sides. It helps the letters stand out from the background.

I have almost-full cans of red, yellow, green and white paint...would any of these colors look better for the border?

I was kind going off of these letters...

I would use the red or the green to frame the letters. The white and yellow won't be emphatic.

Hey, those look great! And since you've advertised that you still have full cans of red, yellow and green paint, I wouldn't be surprised if you hear from some Alpha Gam chapters that want to hire you out!

Hey, how do you get the outline sketched down on the plywood so neatly?

I still like the idea of having some burly man them. We had large wooden standards (like three foot tall letters on a stick to carry to football games, etc) at my school. If you looked at them closely, often there were little messages from the guys on the sides or whatever.

Brought back from the grave....
I'm a teacher; I propped the plywood up on the board in my classroom, put the letters on the overhead projector, and traced the image onto the plywood. lol
