I voted absentee last week, using the spiffy touch screen machines.
We've had the computerized push button machines for several years now - why? Because our old commisioner of elections struck an illegal deal with a voting booth company. Gotta love crooked LA politics! It keeps po-dunk Louisiana with some nice technology years ahead of other places.
Speaking of commissioner of elections, I voted for the woman who is currently in office, and is running for U.S. Senate. Gotta get Landrieu outa there - she keeps spending more and more of my money, and the state still has nothing to show for it. She's just riding on her daddy's name (he was mayor of New Orleans).
I was sad about the outcome of the New Orleans DA race. The results were 52/48. I think the guy who won (who is our former US Attorney) is super crooked, and wears a stupid hat (seriously, he wears a derby hat ALL THE TIME.) Plus, I think the woman who was running would have done a great job to crack down on crime. She was serious about it - her sister was murdered in NOLA and she is raising her sister's child because of it. It was personal for her.

I worked with some CNN video from other states today... Some of these computers they have look really perplexing if you were say 75+ years old and had never used a computer before. While they ARE touchscreen and all I just tend to think that at the very least these machines would be intimidating to seniors.

I voted! We are STILL waiting on the Alabama gubernatoral race. Seigelman incumbent Democrat and Riley Republican are both claiming victory. Numbers show Seigelman in the lead, but yet, Riley says he has it. Riley wants a recount. What the heck?!?! We are STILL waiting.
Deja vu all over again from Presidential election of 2000. Only in Alabama!
We do however have a female Lt. Governor elect! First time in Ala. history that a female has been elected in Ala. to this position.

Woohoo! Ed Rendell is PA's new governor! First time in 90 years that someone from Philadelphia has been elected as governor! Congrats to kddani's third cousin, as well!

If you don't think your vote counts...
Here in Oklahoma State Senator Brad Henry, Democrat, edged out Former U-S Representative, Republican, Steve Largent by only 6-thousand votes.
Both men stayed up until 2-30 this morning when the results of the election were turned in and finalized.
This is a major upset for the Largent camp which has been attributed to state question 687 which will now make cockfighting in Oklahoma a felony.
State Question 687 is said to have brought out the vote in heavily democratic rural Oklahoma as they tried unsuccessfully to ensure the future of their sport.

I guess the good thing (if there can be one) about the Republicans controling the White House & Congress is that if the government goes to hell in the next 2 years - voters will blame it on them and I pray to god get that incompetant Bush out of office
At least Illinois is going to be governed by a Democrat now

I don't vote because I don't like keeping up the illusion that my opinion matters.

If Rendell and Knoll (D) win (as they should, they've had a double digit lead the whole campaign), the first woman lt. gov. of PA will be Catherine Baker Knoll- who is also my third cousin! (my grandmother's first cousin- i think that makes her my 3rd cousin?). So I think that's pretty neat.
But if the Rep. win, Mike Fisher will be gov. His daughter is a KD, and is active in our alumnae association, also graduated from my law school two years ago and is working for a firm in Pittsburgh.
It's been a nasty gubernatorial battle in PA.....

Wow Danielle, I had no idea you were related to CBK!!
I am just so glad this election is over.
