I figured I'd give you guys my funny "high" for the day. While practicing the Greek alphabet today for welcome rounds, one of my sisters goes, "Wait, what does this song start with...oh wait, Alpha!"
We all burst into laughter. She's normally so intelligent, and it was an outstanding light-hearted moment of the day.

Highs: Being told by the retina specialist this morning that my eye was going to be ok after being diagnosed with a torn retina and undergoing eye surgery last week. He said that he wanted me to start using it again (Hello, Greek Chat and all those books). It brings me closer to returning to work. However, it seems that things are going well.
Lows: Thank God that I listened to my optometrist who said if you got floaters to come on in. The vision kept getting cloudier, and I knew that it was bad so I made an appointment with an opthamologist. Just being told that my retina was torn & that it could cause up to 50% loss of vision in that eye was a real shock to the system. Coming out of anesthesia and being zoned out on codeine-laced Tylenol for a few days because of the pain was a low, too. I still have to use eyedrops 3 times daily. Now the only other low is that the specialist will have to laser the other eye in a few months to ensure that the same thing won't occur there. I also have to get new glasses & contacts because the surgery/treatments change the shape of the eye.

Low: Sorry to crash but I just heard on my local news that a sister of Pi Beta Phi was struck and killed by a hit and run driver at the University of Southern California earlier today.

Low: Hearing about what happened at USC. I am from So. Cal so it kind of hit close to home. PPL California Gamma.

Crashing with what I hope is a general "high"* --
http://www.thecornernews.com/index.p...abama-usa2010/
Miss Alabama USA 2010, according to the report ^, is a Pi Phi from Auburn's chapter.
Isn't there some GCer who's an alum of that chapter, or am I wrong once again?
Excerpt from article:
Audrey Moore is “Miss Alabama USA" 2010. She is from Birmingham, Al and a sophomore at Auburn University. Her major is in communication disorders to be a speech pathologist and a minor in rehabilitation. . . .
Auburn shaped her . . . . Last fall, she was nominated by her sorority, PI Beta Phi . . . .
* Since it's a crash, mod, feel free to delete, move, edit whatever if it's in the wrong place.
