Ah, fruity names...once knew an 8 year old girl named DELIGHT, which always made me think of Diet Delight Fruit Cocktail.

I recently talked to my mom on the phone. She works at the same company I do; she's still back in NJ in the office where I used to work. She mentioned many months back that a girl that I was acquainted with there was pregnant. Fast-forward to a few days ago, and my mom told me she had the baby. It's a girl. And her name is Andromeda.

All I keep thinking about is that movie The Andromeda Strain...

Semen is a bad romanization of the Russian name Семён, which is the Russian version of Simon. A better romanization that is more true to the real pronunciation would be Semyon.

I don't like seeing people make fun of names that are culturally correct, even though it happens all the time on these sorts of threads.

Not someone I teach, obviously, but I cringe every time I hear a child named "Aristotle" on a commercial for Bravo's "Odd Mom Out." Bleh.

Maybe she was a Harry Potter fan and took her inspiration from the character Andromeda Tonks?

It's been awhile, and we've enrolled lots of new GC members since the OP posted. Any additional names to add to the fold?

Karen as of now lol.

I was almost named Karen but my mom decided on something else. Sadly most of the Karens I've met in my life have been super nice, but the name has a negative rep as of now.

I’ve always wondered why the name “Karen” was chosen for nosey, entitled white women. I actually have never met a “Karen” whose personality matched the somewhat new term.

Apparently they’re great weed killers. I’m going back this weekend to dig them up and replant them in my yard.

I hope you got that woman’s number so you can let her know that you’re on your way to dig up her plants, otherwise, you could be the next victim from the “Karen” living next door. 😂

Not really a seriously horrible name, but friends are going to name their rainbow baby (several miscarriages in the past) Elsie. These are not slender people, and I'm so afraid that she will be saddled with "Elsie the Cow" when she starts school.

I'm praying that they change their minds - they do have a couple months to do so.

Lolololol!!!!! I’m way ahead of you, PB. That was the first thing that crossed my mind when she said that. I damn sure wasn’t ringing her doorbell. I’m not trying to get shot thru the door by whoever could be living with her.
