Co-Sign on the undergarment check--no reason to share unmentionables!
If you wear white pants or skirts, consider getting a body shaper/slimmer like Spanx.

WHAT SHOES WILL I WEAR FOR INITIATION???
I've been dress shopping, but I haven't found exactly what I want yet. So clearly, I can't commit to shoes before I have the dress. Generally speaking though...how can I wear all white in late fall in Pennsylvania??? The only white shoes I have are open toed kitten heals...cute as anything but definitely NOT something that I can wear in the cold weather of a PA autumn. Help!
|
Check and make sure you even have to wear shoes during initiation. Some sororities have you wear white peds/socks during the ceremony, so the shoes wouldn't matter.

blueangel, I hope that you delete your post because I think that is private information that you're posting. I have never heard anything like that publicly, hence why I think it would likely be private, RITUAL information. I don't even want to ask how you know the ritual requirements of other groups.

I am still trying to figure this post out!
It is it above and beyond the call of duty?
Black, White, Flip Flops, bare foot, or with socks, what concern is it of yours?
Is it Your Sorority?
Do you have better fish to fry?

I don't think it's revealing too much so I'm just going to say it.
LM...you MUST wear shoes. No question.

Tom--considering there are ASA members posting what kind of SHOES to wear, I find blueangels post pretty ridiculous. White socks...during a ritual...I have never heard such a thing, and I would venture that anyone that would ask about such a thing (especially an adult woman) would look very foolish for doing so. It is good advice to ignore the posting because its NOT helpful. If it were actually applicable, I am sure someone would have told LM by now.
This is nothing personal against blueangel...
Now...maybe you should stop unnecessarily attacking, and MODERATE!

Tom...it IS my sorority, and I'M saying that blueangel's suggestion is NOT GOOD. Maybe ZTAs can wear socks to their Formal Initiation, but I'm pretty sure 99.99% of ASAs would find that unacceptable.

Wouldn't fly with us either

I think that your sponsor should advise you as to what is appropriate to wear and it isn't our place to offer suggestions, unless we happen to be members of your group.
The moderator should remove the 'helpful' posts.

Oh puhleeze. There are sororities that require all white dresses, there are some that don't. There are some that require white shoes, and some that require socks or peds.
I went shopping with my friend Nina at UF who (and I'm not going to name her sorority-- it wasn't mine) told me she needed to find a white dress. When we discussed shoes, she said didn't have to worry about what color shoes she had to wear because they didn't wear shoes during initiation.
This is not "secret" info... nor is whether you must buy a white dress or not. There are plenty of threads about finding white dresses.
And by the way.. in Zeta, we must wear UGG boots. They're kind of hard to find during the summer, so it makes shopping a bit difficult sometimes.

You may not think this info is secret, but you notice that many members are not posting about what they wear (in any way, shape, or form) for their initiation. So maybe its not a secret for ZTA, but it definitely is for AXO and others - nothing about our dress code is revealed for a reason.
Barb said it perfectly - LM's sponsor can advise her - all the other "helpful" dress code replies should be deleted.

I don't know how you got from "no shoes" to "socks or peds." They're definitely not the same thing.
