And what exactly do YOU bring? Besides ridiculous comments insinuating alcoholic stupor?

As for the comment about someone not being worth the effort... as usual you have misread my statements. My point about someone not being worth the effort is in response to information about the fact that people directed their sigs at me. Behavior like that ISN'T worth ANY kind of effort because it's stupid. Some members on here accuse ME of not being able to handle a simple disagreement in opinion, but yet they disagree with me about something and change their sigs JUST to make jabs? So yes, apparently someone IS taking something THAT seriously. Based on that it doesn't seem like I'M the one with the problem.

I'm kind of lost for words at this point. I would just note that perhaps I'm not the one being "daft" about all of this.
ETA: I don't know why my post has that little "thumbs down" signal.

Oh nittanyalum the purple four wheeler reference was a personal anecdote about my brother stimulating the economy.
That sounds gross, too.

Here lies the issue. You expect me to do self-reflection, but you refuse to consider doing the same.
I think we all enjoy a good debate. Goodness knows I like the fact that unlike a certain other board I'm a member of , we can actually discuss politics here. But I would appreciate you giving my opinions the same respect you want me to give yours. When you do that, I think everything will be quite cool.
I would also like to add that watching certain people get snarky on here is funny to me. I think quite a few of those individuals wouldn't have the balls to pop off like that in person.

Part of the issue with a lot of what happens here is ALL OF US get caught up trying to outsnark each other that we don't give a shit anymore about trying to be rational, even in situations when it's not called for.
ALL OF US CAN point a finger of blame to ourselves and think....when XYZ posts...."hmm what can I say that will piss them off" and hijacks begin
That's why A LOT OF US don't talk and CAN't TALK and WON'T TALK to each other because we are more busy trying to prepare the next drive by snarking before we even begin to think, let's talk about this openly and honestly.
I will take my finger now....anyone else care to follow?

I don't hijack for snark. I hijack just because it's what I do. Most of the time I do it to keep things light (and maybe if I post enough the pictures of bleach cream will be a few pages behind us).
And seriously, who doesn't want to talk about purple four wheelers? I know I do. My lumberjack brother and his wife are particularly interesting things for me to talk about. If other people don't think it's interesting, they can stay on topic.

Nope.
If anyone is seriously thinking "What can I say that will piss them off" then that's crazy.
My thought process is: "This person is being stupid."
Then I say: "You're being stupid."
This is how it works with me in real life.

Sometimes, I think that the relatively small size of a state's tax base skews the numbers quite a bit.(Or large size in the case of New York, in the opposite direction.) I'd kind of assume that there's a baseline amount of federal funds you'd expect every state to get. There'd be more funds coming in if that state had more military bases and this could heavily tip a state with a relatively low population overall. I'm interested in trying to see where money goes and if it's high or low per capita compared to other states.
|
This will probably surprise a ton of people, but I don't care too much about teaching evolution or creation in schools. I figure that's a pretty personal belief that people will teach their kids regardless of what's being taught in the schools. I remember in my HS biology classes, there were a group of 3-4 fundamentalist Christians who challenged the science texts. Most people come in with their ideas on this topic, and you can't really change their minds too much.
The states with the most military bases are Florida, California, and North Carolina--and they all break just about even with the tax thing. The whole thing seems to have less to do with population or even military involvement, and the general economic picture of the state. For example, the same states that always show up at the bottom of the lists for quality of life--Alabama, Mississippi, West Virginia, and New Mexico--also take a ton more than they give to the government.

LOL
Sorry, that's gonna stay for awhile...no matter how many pages you post.
Shock value.

This is false.
First of all, who takes this site THAT seriously?

You're right. I want to know who these people are. Although I'm sure she won't say. She seems to pick and choose which posts she will respond to.

Here’s a usual convo with deepimpact
deepimpact: “Blah blah blah blah blah”
mobster: “Yea, but that doesn’t make sense, because blah blah blah”
deepimpact: “Well maybe if you actually read what I said, you would know that I meant blah blah blah”
When in fact, all you have to do is say, “I’m sorry, what I meant to say was blah blah blah.”
Just like you, people react to things that are said. When EVERYONE who reads your posts interpret them the same way, then you might have misspoke. Because honestly, what do you think.. that everyone is PMing each other saying, “Hey, let’s pretend like we didn’t understand what deepimpact said, and let’s get snarky with her over a perfectly normal statement she made.”
