P-Diddy to buy a NBA team
P. Diddy wants to be a shot caller for ballers.
The hip-hop mogul, who owns restaurants, designs clothing and acts, is interested in becoming a co-owner of his favorite basketball team, the New York Knicks.
"I think I could do a good job," Combs told Howard Stern on his syndicated radio show Tuesday morning (July 22). "I think [they need] some new blood up in there. ... I'm not saying let's get rid of the owners, I'm saying put me down. Put me in the game ... because it's not going down right now. I wanna make sure we [are] gonna win."
P. Diddy's spokesperson confirmed the rapper is "looking to petition for a stake" in the team, which is not for sale, but said it is not something he is pursuing aggressively.
Either way, the Knicks, who finished with a disappointing 37-45 record last season, don't seem to be taking the rapper seriously. "It's not even worth commenting on," a spokesperson for the team said Tuesday.
"I'm publicly puttin' it out there, because they're not taking my calls," Combs told Stern before critiquing the team's current ownership and management. "We're making rush decisions. I think we need a team that also reflects the spirit of the city. We need an aggressive, fast team that knows how to run."
The Knicks, owned by Cablevision, are worth about $392 million, the second most valuable team in the NBA behind the Los Angeles Lakers, according to a Boston Herald story published last year.
Forbes estimates P. Diddy to be worth about $250 million, although last week's release of the "Bad Boys II" soundtrack on his Bad Boy Records should up his earnings a bit. It's expected to debut at #1 with more than 300,000 copies sold, according to industry magazine Hits.

I don't believe that story about Erykah. That sounds like nonsense. I would have to hear the radio show myself. I will do a search and get back on this one...
As for Brandy, I'll do CT4 one better: Find yourself, THEN get married, and THEN make SURE you are "right" for marriage BEFORE you get knocked up. She was all in reverse....

Latrell got traded? Jim Rome's not on yet and I haven't been reading the ESPN site in a while (irked about Kobe Bean and Shaquille's been hiding out with his trainer).
Keith Van Horn=soft. You think that Knick fan is going to tolerate that? And I'm not making a racial inference either: Bill Bradley, the late Dave DeBusschere and even Laker Head Coach Phillip Jackson were hard in their playing days.

Yes...Spree is GONE. He will be in Minnesota with Garnett. It was some sort of four way team trade and NYC is in an uproar over this.

Other Basketball News...
Scottie Pippen is returning to the Chicago Bulls. He said that he would like to finish his career in Chicago.
~*Sidenote: Does this mean that he is retiring? I can't take people to seriously when it comes to retiring in basketball...i.e.-Micheal Jordan has retired about 3 or 4 times...~*

Chicago Police Apologize to Ice Cube

CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Police Department has apologized for issuing a community alert that described a man suspected in a series of sexual assaults as resembling hip-hop artist and actor Ice Cube after a local television station aired one of the rapper's videos during its evening newscast.
Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted three woman in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, a trendy area on the city's North Side.
A police alert released Sunday described the man as a black male in his mid-20s who "resembles the popular rap artist 'Ice Cube.'"
The Chicago TV station owned and operated by CBS, WBBM-TV, subsequently broadcast one of Ice Cube's videos when it reported the story Monday night.
"We acknowledged the information should not have been on the alert," Police spokesman David Bayless said Tuesday. "We took immediate corrective action. We apologize to Ice Cube for what was an honest mistake and came with no ill intent."
The community alert was reissued without a reference to Ice Cube.
Filming had begun Monday on "Barbershop 2," a sequel to the popular movie starring the Compton, Calif., native, said Matt Labov, a spokesman for Ice Cube.
Labov said cast members were watching as WBBM-TV broadcast the video.
"This is an unfortunate and hurtful situation for Ice Cube," Labov said. "That his good name ever came up in association with the events currently taking place in Chicago's Wicker Park area is damaging to Ice Cube as a father, husband and artist."
Both the police department and the TV station have since apologized, Labov said.
Elizabeth Shapiro, communications director for Channel 2, acknowledged that the station used the video.
"Chicago police had issued a community alert saying a suspect in a string of crimes in Wicker Park resembled rap artist Ice Cube," she said. "So our information was taken directly from the Chicago Police Department community alert

Completely stupid isht, on everyone's part. The TV station (I'm embarrassed to be a reporter) and the police department. Since Ice Cube is a public figure, however, he couldn't sue for libel. A judge would throw it out.

CNN Headline News reported tonight that Puffy is interested in purchasing the New York Knicks. Unfortunately, his calls to the 'Powers That Be' have not been returned.

Yeah, that description narrowed it down a bit from almost every black man in Chicago to just most black men. Well, at least they apologized, I guess.
Would this have happened to Eminem?

It's Hollywood, I put nothing past no one.
June 3, 2003 - The New York Daily News reports Jennifer Love Hewitt was at Lucky Cheng's on Wednesday with boyfriend/actor Kip Pardue and her mother Pat Hewitt.
But then....
July 17, 2003 - Jeannette Walls of MSNBC.com reports that Jennifer Love Hewitt and Orlando Jones were spotted looking quite cozy at Los Angeles restaurant G. Garvin’s. "They arrived separately, but sat very close and it wasn’t due to lack of space," reports a spy, who added that J-Love and the former 7-Up pitchman "were acting as though they were really into each other — touching, looking, laughing."

I'll tell ya'll, I know that Vanessa is playing the Hillary Clinton, Efflie Baily (Marion's Ex)role , but I just see her taking that ring and all is forgiven. Part of me feels that she isn't a sistah and her response wouldn't be sista-ish. One thing about Efflie, she stuck by Marion's crack pipe azz, but when the hype was passed, she divorced his but and went back to college. Is the ring a pay-off or fresh start?
|
This is the biggest pay-off I've ever seen. While it is true that if they were to divorce, Vanessa would get half of everything Kobe has...why would she divorce him when she can stay married to him and have access to EVERYTHING.
Vanessa can't be more than 23 years old. I think that she is very comfortable with her lifestyle and she wouldn't want her and their daughter to live any other way...
