Didn't hear Janet's CD. To me, Mariah's album wasn't bad, but not as good as Emancipation. Most of Usher's album was bad, except for about four songs.
Please Music God, let Kanye's album be the bomb.

Janet- Trust me, you didn't miss much!
Mariah- was good, but Emancipation was much better
Usher- I thought it was ok, but not as good as Confessions
I heard that Kanye will sing more than rap on this CD. If it's true, then I'm scared!

I didn't buy Beyonce's album after hearing a little sample from my friends. I expected her to bring it this album, with more ballads and "real music." I'm sick of the pop sound. C'mon B, you're older and married now. Sing like it. Do you all agree?
Oh, I can't stop listening to Sweetest Love by Robin Thicke! I love that song.

100%. I really want her to do a mature album, more in the vain of MJB. Beyonce isn't evolving musically.

I am now listening to the Sasha CD. Some of the songs on this one and the I Am CD sound like leftover Rhianna songs. The CDs are OK, but I don't see myself bumping them like BDay or Dangerously In Love.

If Kanye falls flat on his face with this one, his next album will be out in the summer (hopefully it will be the Get A Job album).

YES!!! I think B is trying to continue to appeal to that single/teeny crowd. The fact is, if she takes a risk and tries to create songs "we" will enjoy, that may be a challenge for her and she's not comfortable with that. DIL had her on the right track. She's about shaking that azz, so that's where her music is relatively speaking. LOL Shaking that azz isn't going to always be a priority for some. (HA!)
Maybe it is Get Me Bodied. However, it's something about the lyrics that remind me of Upgrade U. I think it's agreed that it seems recycled.
I'm not really a B fan, but I thought once she left DC, got older, became hitched her music would grow. She needs to take a few lessons from MJB.

I sent similar sentiments in an email yesterday:
Music is about moods. If a CD can catch you at the right time, it's easy to become "addicted" to it. That's why Mary blew up. There are millions more women in despair than happy with love and/or life at any given time, so it's easy to relate. That's why folks thought she had "fallen off" when she got happy with her life and started getting more upbeat. Beyonce might be going through that. I think she tried to satisfy both ends of the spectrum with this double disc. She may want to grow up, but she is still trying to keep the "Single Ladies"/"Upgrade U" crowd. But, I'm not hating on the slow jams because I LOVE Beyonce and I LOVE ballads. She can do no wrong if she gives me an album worth of ballads. I love her voice!
Though I think she's great, I would love for her music to grow up more. I'd hate for her to hit a rut in a few years similar to what Janet is experiencing now. Janet is pretty much REFUSING to grow up in her music and, while I love Janet and thinks she still has it, she is getting too damn old to still be trying to pull off Rhythm Nation. If she comes through with some modern day versions of "Again," "That's the Way Love Goes," and "Anytime, Anyplace," then her and I can roll again! Until then....
--
I agree with Soror 2D. Beyonce needs to step the game up. There's nothing wrong with one or two "popish" songs on an album, but Beyonce needs to keep up with her contemporaries, i.e., the maturing crowd (like us), and leave the trendy song and dance to the Rihannas and Ciaras of the world. There is NOTHING wrong with growing up. I'd rather lose a few fans than turn away from what's true to me.

Just to add... Artists also need to take a break. I know the industry thing is to get it while you can, but it's overkill. For certain people their last albums aren't even cold yet.

Yeah. B needs to take a BREAK! She's a great entertainer, but can I wonder where she went? For instance, pull a Maxwell on us! He has toured and STILL has NOT put out new miusic.
I LOVE JJs "This Can't Be Good!"

I concur on all above...especially the bolded.
After listening to half of Kanye's new CD, I'm officially depressed.

B did talk about retiring at 30. She's 27 now, so she probably figures she still got a good three years left in her. But I doubt that she will retire then. The only thing I thing is going to slow her down is little Biggas.

Or they add songs to albums that have been out a year and promote them for another year (did you hear that Rhianna?).
And can someone please tell me why Jaheem is coming out with a greatest hits album next week?

Yeah the adding of songs and releasing the album as a "bonus track album" is ok ONLY if the original album was solid.
I didn't know Jaheem had that many songs to have a greatest hits album, but I said the same thing when Ashanti released one.
