Where is WVU? There is no way these statistics are accurate in anyway, you can't go from number one party school to not being on the list at all.

Yeah that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I'm going up for a visit in April, my first in a year and a half, I'll work on bringing back our #1 spot then.

Wink

These rankings for major Greek scene were based on the % of students who are involved in fraternities and sororities. Some schools not listed may have a high number of chapters represented, but the actual % of the student body involved in Greek life is not that high (since they are huge schools). I am a student at one of the schools listed, and yes, the Greek scene totally dominates campus social life.

Okay, I had family go there, and I can't figure it out. It's very mellow, very PC, and when I was in high school, and back visiting while in college, their parties were wack.

Maybe they've laced the X up on the hill, but SC is still a lil mellow college town, and not hype.

Thumbs down

Hello....

University of Wisconsin Madison down to #9 on the party list...I do not think so!!

Honestly, we live in Wisconsin...there is nothing to do here other then drink beer and watch one of our sports teams. Seriously, it gets so cold hear in the winter, that the only way to keep warm is to go out to the bars!!

We have literally 50 bars within a 3 mile range...seriously, this needs to be contested!!

You realize that his whole thing is bogus, right?

First of all, Princeton Review has absolutely nothing to do with Princeton University. Most people think it does.

Second, as I understand it, these "ratings" are basically a compilation of comments from people who attend those schools and fill out a questionaire. It's kinda like some of the All Star Games. New York and LA often have the most players -- because more people there vote for them. It's not demographic like that, but if more people at Podunk University say it's a great party school, but the people at Ignorance Is Bliss College (which is a real party school) don't bother writing in -- well, you can see what happens. Everyone wants to go to a Podunk Party and are ignorant of Bliss.

My own Alma Mater, Ohio University, dropped off the party school list this year after being number 7 or something like that last year. Did everyone there suddenly get boring? It is, in fact, a party school. Some guy on the University of Nebraska campus who was wearing an Ohio U tee shirt told me that just last week. Unsolicited. Ohio showed up on the best Greek schools, though. I think only about 8-10% of the student body is Greek, so how does that figure?

Talking

it's kind of sad that some of the lesser known schools such as cleveland state university where I attend doesn't get the props it deserved. We may have a small greek system, but it's never a dull moment when it comes to us partying. we may not have all the advantages that the major schools have, but we can hold our own.

LOL, I knew it had to be an old list because Pike4Life, who lives here in this town, hasn't been on GC in a zillion years.

Oh, you are kidding me. Little Birmingham Southern? Nope, I'll put Auburn and Bama's Greeks before them any day party-wise.

What's not weird is that both lists have a Kentucky school (first list, Centre College and second list, Transylvania University). When I was at UK, I was told that UK had been ranked the #1 party school in the US at some point in the 1950's. Then again, when I was at UK, Centre was just getting sororities. Fraternities have always been strong there.

As for the University of Wisconsin, sure, it's really cold and there is not much else to do but drink/party-or study. I keep track of Madison because two of my three brothers now live around Madison and I'm there a few times a year. But being from the north (Chicago) and having gone to college in the south, I learned firsthand that southerners can party in ways that northerners would not even think of.
