Well at my university even some Nationals are doing it, and we for the first time did it this semester with some success. It's not something we have made permanent at the moment, but it might be something to consider.

IHQ has already informed the chapter that they will be resolved in December.
Stay in your lane, please. Thanks.

I'm sorry, but I'm not exactly sure what you mean by resolved. Do you mean disolved or disbanded?

The collegiate chapter is being resolved into its alumnae chapter = closing.

I've never heard of anything like this and can't figure out the mechanics. Do you recruit and start a pledge class, then recruit a 2nd time and start a completely separate pledge class? How is this different from COB recruitment, where you may pick up new members at various times during the semester and plop them into the same pledge class pool?

Well basically we just had one initiation, and we're planning on having another initiation before finals. They will be two separate pledge classes.

One right after the other?
You recently got to know these members.
Perhaps you should focus on the brothers you have...

Fraternity actually, and we're at a smaller school. We honestly got to meet these guys because a few were around at the beginning of the year, but were never handed bids because one was involved with Rugby during out meeting time, and the others for other various reasons.

This is a really rude thing to say - you have no idea about the size/dynamics of his chapter or campus.
2 pledge classes in a semester often works better for smaller chapters than having one big pledge class that is bigger than the active membership. Many times we are talking about pledges who already know the majority of the fraternity or sorority membership quite well.

Thanks for the backup. I'd beg to guess we know our pledges a little bit better then the person who made that statement knows their pledge class.

didnt mean to be rude. I just like to assume things. All i stated was an opinion. And in my case, i wouldnt rush to take on a new class, no matter the size of my organization. I would rather want to spend time with my new sisters, as formally inducted members of my organization.
But this must only be the case for us.
I think its great that you get to know potential members so well in advanced before membership actually takes place. But I feel like how are the newly initated brothers supposed to help educate even 'newer' members, if they just got initated and most likely learned the organizations most sacred rituals?
My statement was to imply, that maybe the new brothers might need some time to adjust to their newfound membership, before they are required to participate in educating new members.
Not to say that you didnt know your pledges well enough before you initated them.
I dont know anything about your chapter, but more than often i read stories on here about people who are eager to initate high quanitites of people, and it doesnt always work out.
But it seems like you guys know what you're doing. And I wish you all the luck.
