"like" is the worst word ever.

I'm a grammar/spelling nazi myself, but I say "you know" way too often, you know? I also overuse "seriously," "amAzing" (with emphasize on the second a)
My sister always says "that's depressing."
I can't stand people who say supposably, or libary.... and anytime people shorten words to undecipherable piles of letters when typing.

what happened to the words used by Shakespeare and Austen, the ones that give character, depth, and meaning to what we say?

I hate when people spell "pissed", "pist". I see it all the time.

The one that means "female dog" and I only use to refer to female canines. For crying out loud, why does anything remotely out of a given mold that a woman says or does merit her being reduced to being a canine?

I quite like & agree with this quote: "I don't think you should use an old dictionary to try to defend a modern meaning of a word. Language changes over time."

Let us change it to an overused phrase:

"You know what I mean, know what I am saying?" NO! I don't know what you mean, nor do I know half of what you are saying!

I detest the term "needless to say" because, if that is the case, why are you saying it?

I also dislike written use of "Um...". I think it should only be used for verbal filler if you can't think of the next word you want to put in your sentence. There's no reason for it to be written since you could just go back and get rid of it once you find the word you want to use.

I thought of a new one, as I was reading a new author this weekend...

I hate when people use the word "far" to mean "much".

As in "The shoes were far too big on him".

I don't know why, but that just drives me crazy. I guess because I think of "far" as from NY to Cali. Not from a size 8 to a size 12.
