When older members of your organization attempt to talk to you and share their pearls of wisdom be open and receptive. Listen to what they are saying. More often than not they are trying to prepare you to do the work that needs to be done in your organization.
Also as a neo, especially if you are still in college, there are some things that you are going to experience just because you are a neo.

To piggy back on this, "I didn't know" is not an excuse (shouldn't be making those anyway ). All documents and manuals are available to all members. Purchase them. Read them. Refer to them OFTEN. Do not depend on your advisor(s) or other chapter members to tell you what's right and wrong. Unfortunately, not all of them are doing the right things and are leading you astray.
Each one, teach one.
Get to know your good sorors who are in alumnae chapter before you graduate, if possible. They are good resources and sounding boards.

AMEN! Along with this, get to know the older members of your organization-starting with those in your sponsoring graduate/alumni chapter. Then, when you're about to graduate and transfer into the chapter or one elsewhere, you may not feel so ill at ease with the age differences between you and some of your fellow members.

Remember to respect your sorors (this applies to both official and unofficial bonds). We are not here to be sex buddies or pin up girls. Respect us as women and as sorors..

Respect your elder sorors! My rule of thumb, "If I can speak to my momma in that tone, then I know I shouldn't be talking like that to this soror!"
And while "I didn't know" is not an excuse, it is okay to ask questions but be prepared to work for the knowledge. It's not just going to be handed to you a silver platter.

Respect ALL of the organizations in the NPHC. All of our organizations are great and have an illustrious legacy and history. Don't get into the org against org hater game and don't buy into and spread stereotypes. Remember that if your org is so great, there is no need to put another org down to lift yours up.

Even if you are older in biological years, if a member is older than you are in said organization...deference based on organizational years is still afforded to the prophyte.

yeah but i try not to pull deference, much less on an older woman who is younger than I in Sigma years. I have respect for my elders and would feel weird pulling deference on someone who could be my momma. (i know LOTS of older members who are newly inducted have issue with this, so while i respect deference to the fullest, i am still sensitive to it)

Elder respect is elder respect. Organizational deference is different deal all together.

Hi, Im new and Ill be a freshmen this fall. I was not exposed to greek life AT ALL until I came to a summer program at my campus. What advice could you give to someone who is thinking about pledging? Also, during the time one is one line, are they permitted to leave campus for ANY reason other than greek buisness?
I understand if your not allowed to tell me some things. I can respect that.
