I'm so terribly sorry for Kappa's loss of a sister and for all of the friends and family of all the victims.

Its so difficult when the names/photos/profiles of the victims start to be released in tragedies such as this. When you read about their hopes and dreams, the good things they did during their lives. Sometimes I get so broken up reading that information that I think perhaps I shouldn't...but I feel compelled to in some strange way, almost as if learning about that person's life will somehow show some sort of respect to their memory.

I did see where one of the young women who was fatally wounded was "looking into joining a sorority" - not sure if she had taken steps to join a particular chapter (attending COR type events, etc.), or was just contemplating going through recruitment in the fall.

Per our national website, "National Headquarters has confirmed that all Sigma Kappa Sorority collegiate members of Epsilon Chi chapter at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University are accounted for and safe."

I cannot imagine what those who lost sisters/brothers/friends feel like right now, but my thoughts and prayers are with them. I am in Richmond, VA and it is all anyone can talk about.

So the fatality count for GLOs still stand at one Kappa? And then 2 Pi Phis, and 1 ADPi injured?

Do we have any more GLO news? How are the Kappas doing? And how are the Pi Phis and ADPis?

Per SAE National:
EVANSTON, IL – Sigma Alpha Epsilon has been in touch with its members of the Virginia Zeta chapter at Virginia Tech University following the campus shootings. Eminent Archon Taylor Williams reports his members are safe and have been in communication with each other. None of them appears to be involved with the shootings.

“All brothers of the Virginia Zeta chapter are accounted for and unharmed,” said Williams. “We do not know who the victims are or the gunman. And we appreciate all of the support we have received from the brothers around the nation who have called or e-mailed us.”

The Fraternity Service Center has fielded several calls from concerned persons.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 17, 2007

Lexington, Va. Sigma Nu Fraternity has confirmed that a member of our Theta
Xi Chapter at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., was among those students
wounded in yesterday's tragic campus shootings. Information received by the
Fraternity indicates that our member received medical treatment at an area
hospital and is currently in stable condition. At this time, the Fraternity
will not release personal details out of respect for the privacy of our
member and his family.

Members of our staff arrived in Blacksburg yesterday to support our student
members and to work with them in an effort to gather additional information.
The Fraternity is also in communication with Theta Xi alumni leaders and
University officials.

Our prayers are with the families and friends of those whose loved ones have
been lost or injured in this senseless tragedy. We pray for the healing of
those wounded. Our heart goes out to the greater Virginia Tech family and
Blacksburg community at this time of inexplicable loss. We will continue to
support the members of our Theta Xi Chapter.

Those wishing to convey messages of support and care to our Theta Xi Chapter
may do so by sending e-mail to the following address:

headquarters@sigmanu.org

As additional information becomes available and is appropriate to be
released, the Fraternity will post updated statements to its web site at:
www.sigmanu.org. It is requested that all inquiries be directed to the
Fraternity's Executive Director, Brad Beacham.

Headquartered in Lexington, Va., Sigma Nu Fraternity was founded in 1869 at
Virginia Military Institute in Lexington and currently has more than 180
active chapters and colonies on college campuses throughout North America.
The Theta Xi Chapter of the Fraternity has initiated almost 500 men since
the Chapter was founded at Virginia Tech in 1971.

All Tri Deltas are accounted for. My brother tells me all Sigma Pi's are accounted for too. No losses or injuries thank God! I just cannot believe this. We are all devastated, mourning for the lost and praying for all their families.
