Virginia Tech Massacre touching Greek Life

2 Pi Beta Phis, and an ADPI are in the hospital after being shot today...has anyone heard anything else?

Keep them, and the rest of the Hokies, in your thoughts and prayers.

This thread lists the GLOs whose members are all accounted for.

EMERGENCIES

THIS IS ADDRESSED TO ALL GREEK SISTERS AND BROTHERS REGARDLESS OF THEIR AFFILIATIONS...

MEET AS AN ENTIRE CHAPTER AND THOROUGHLY GO OVER YOUR CHAPTER, COLLEGE AND COMMUNITY PLAN FOR EMERGENCIES. HAVE PLANS AND RESOURCES IN PLACE FOR ANYTHING THAT MAY HAPPEN - WHETHER IT BE SOMETHING AS TRAGIC AS THIS OR SIMPLE EMERGENCIES LOCATED AT YOUR COLLEGES...

CREATE PHONE TREES, E-MAIL/TEXT MESSAGING LISTS ETC. KNOW WHO YOUR CONTACT PEOPLE ARE FOR YOUR FAMILIES AT HOME OR AWAY. DISCUSS FULLY WHAT EVERYONE CAN DO TO STAY IN TOUCH AND PLAN FOR SUCH AND EVENT. HAVE A LIST OF RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO ALL WITHIN YOUR CHAPTER AND CAMPUS SO THAT ALL KNOW WHAT TO DO AND WHERE TO TURN. NOTIFY YOUR FAMILIES OF THESE CONTACTS AS WELL.

AND ABOVE ALL, PRAY OR SEND HEARTFELT THOUGHTS TO THOSE PARENTS WHO HAVE LOST A CHILD TONIGHT...

I got an e-mail from IHQ saying that all Alpha Gams were accounted for, except one sister might be helping with recovery efforts or something like that. I'm grateful that I didn't lose a sister today, but my heart goes out to everyone who has lost someone in this tragedy:(

We have received official word now that all of the Alpha Gams have been accounted for. I just can't stop thinking about the friends/roommates and mostly, parents, who have lost their loved ones today.

We too got an email from Alpha Phi headquarters that all the sisters at Virginia Tech were accounted for. Thank goodness...

And my thoughts and prayers go out to those families that lost loved ones today. This really hit home for me since so many of my friends from high school went to Virginia Tech (I went to school just outside of DC)...and many of my sister's friends are current student there.

This is the first I've heard that an ADPi was shot. May she, the Pi Phi sisters, & all of the other wounded fully recover from their injuries. May the families of all involved be comforted, and somehow, find peace through this horrible day.

This is a repost. But all the brothers of our chapter there are accounted for and safe.

I am a Pi Phi at VA Tech and both of my sisters are doing well. One was grazed by a bullet in the head while helping our other sister after she was shot twice in the back. The one that was shot twice is out of surgery and in stable condition. VA Zeta appreciates all of your concern and prayers

Very happy that your sisters are ok. Where can we donate money and what else can we do to help?

honeychile 04-17-2007 11:04 AM

Wonderful idea! Is there some way we can help? We're writing notes, but I was wondering if maybe a Pizza Hut card or something similar - but there could be something much better to send.

This makes me want to cry. This is 100% what sisterhood is all about.

ISUKappa 04-17-2007 11:21 AM

Per the Zeta Mu (chapter) website, one Kappa sister at VaTech was fatally shot. :(

ISUKappa,

I know I am not a Kappa sister but I am an NPC sister. Would you please keep us updated if you find information on where to send sympathy cards to the chapter?

I emailed the "comments" address on their website. I think any little gesture we can give them to show that we are thinking about them and praying for them helps the healing.

I know that when I tragically lost a Gamma Phi Beta sister to colon cancer (at age 28!!) it really helped to channel our grief through donating to a scholarship in her name. It is wonderful to think that she is remembered every year at the school she so loved (she worked in admissions). Perhaps VT Kappas might consider this as a way for all Caitlin's Kappa sisters and NPC cousins to remember her, and to continue her legacy . . .
