While you are being quite logical, his inquiry was specific to a particular organization. So let a member from the particular organization respond to his question even if he posted it in Greek Life. If he had not provided much detail then of course we could all tell him whatever. But as it stands you are in violation of lane swerving.

I would do it. I've heard stories from our chapter where we've pledged a guy who was about 3 years older than our oldest member, and also double in size. When hazing came around, they would usually leave him alone. The Sig Eps here recently pledged a marine who just returned from Iraq. He's 8 years younger than you, but the actives still left him alone given the situation.

You know, it's going to depend on the chapter and your time/money situation.
My chapter recently initiated a 29-yr old who had been in the Army Rangers. It was something he always wanted to do--get that college experience. He was very devoted and mature (obviously) about the situation. He's only been a brother for a month now--but he's been a good one thusfar.

Our chapter has the oldest member ever iniated into the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at 70 years old...so I as long as you meet the requirements it shouldn't be a big deal...this was a fairly long time ago however

Lordy, why? Had he pledged in the past, but was never initiated until now?

i know people that have pledged undergrad in their late 20's, so 30 is nothin...
and waitin to pledge grad chapter...most of the people involved are in their mid 20s, so either you way look @ it, you're probably gonna get pledged by people younger than you...thats just my take on the situation...
