I thought the tunnel would take you around in a big circle and you'd come out right next to where you went in, kind of like an amusement park ride.
And where would we have to go to see the Ball O' String? That sounds AWESOME!

Doc, the Ball O' String and Cheese World ain't what they used to be.
But the tunnel you refer to, the Big Dig, is all done. Except for a few minor problems, like leaks and concrete panels falling off the ceiling killing a motorits. Other than those two things, the $16 Billion tunnel is all done.
But seriously, Boston would be a great place for the assembly.

Boston vs. Indy
I have no doubt that Boston has hotel & meeting space for 800 or so people.
A practical question is how to get folks from Logan to the hotel? Orlando worked OK, but I suspect that the ten mile drive between MCO and the hotel was about the max that they would want to do. Are there convention hotels in a safe part of town that are close enough to the airport that (a) are available, and (b) would want to host 600 "frat boys" for a conference?
I use the term "frat boys" to conjure up the image that we must contend with when looking for a hotel.
Personally I like the idea of Boston. Indy is OK, but could just as easily be Kansas City or St Louis but for the tag on the baggage. The only difference is that Indy lacks a baseball team.

Just wonder what difference it makes?
John, I like KC as Brother Harry S Truman Library is here!
But, when there were two regionals were here, it was cheaper for me to stay in the Hotel rather than commute in 20 minutes? Never understood that one!
Indy was nice and to see the IHQ which really was nice, but just so so as actually is small. That was my deciding factor to go, our mecca so to speak.
But, with the meetings that go on, many do not get out to see any city no matter what.
I just hope I am able to make 2009 G A!

General Assembly is always a busy time, and yes, the meetings do take up time. I went a day and a half in Orlando without venturing outside the building!
A Leadership Seminar is a vacation!
Leadership Seminar will be where next summer? Memphis? Nashville? Knoxville?
And when? July 21/21/23?

Who said anything about General Assembly? I only mentioned Boston because I will be there on November 2, 2009. It's the centennial of our founding, and the place of our founding, and that's where I will be.
Period.

Jono,
I want to be there too! I may be a bit sentimental, but I like that idea very much.
If I can make it, maybe we can share a bit of the whisky you love so much. You know, the Centennial bottle....
Yours in ZAX,

Maybe there should be 2 events....GA '09 in Indy with all the lawmaking,
seminars and such....and a "somewhat organized" social event Nov. 9
in Boston...maybe organize some tours for local attractions, golf, etc.
Nov. 9, 2009, is on a Monday....maybe not a good party night
Not a good time for undergrads either...maybe a "Nationwide Alumni Event"
or some such.

Brother Kevin, you may have a good idea!
The problem with G A's is to much time being PC and legal items.
Maybe 2009 should be more about what LXA was, is and could be? Just a thought from an Old Alum.
2009 is an off year. Maybe this should be a time for going to History as has never been done before.

An all over the country alumni event
I'll take a page from the Texas A & M playbook here . . .
Once a year an event called the "Aggie Muster" is held. It apparently is an A & M reunion hosted in numerous locations across the year on a specific day. It's a big thing on some military bases with the "Muster Committee" putting the event together for all A & M alumni.
Perhaps we could explore a similar one time event on an appropriate day in November 2009. I am sure that, for example, Dallas and San Diego would hold events as there are large alumni associations there. Perhaps other large cities as well could put together a suitable soiree.
The Grand High Alpha could tape a message that could be played - sorta like George Bush does for fund raisers!
