The best part about it is that you can write all day long on it, but there is no right answer.
I'd go with "worst", because it leads to do-nothing 'arguments' like this one . . . although we can all agree this woman's actions were pretty much as bad as it could possibly get, at least toward an individual.

And it goes in cycles, so at some point there's always going to be one side that thinks it's the "right" way because it's the way that is in use at the time.

I totally agree. I've often gone back and forth on the issue with capital punishment, however I do think that all sex offenders (especially with those that hurt children) need to fry. My best friend's brother was abused by their 55 year old female babysitter when he was 6. I wont describe how, but it came out years later when he was going through puberty. Unfortunately this shitbag is still on the streets despite their efforts to get her locked up. To try and make him feel safe they changed and unlisted their phone numbers, changed locks on all cars and their house, changed their burglar alarm code, and then ultimately ended up moving into a new house because their son was so terrified of the basement. This child is 23 today and still has major psychological problems as a result of the abuse.

In my opinion sex offenders (and other forms of child abusers) give up their rights when they hurt children. There is no worse criminal. As a society we must not let these perps get off lightly. Judges need to be held accountable for dispicable sentences such as this.

I'm having a party if Jessica's Law becomes a federal law (25 years to life i think it is for first offense --someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I don't care if it can be proven that she would never do it again...the fact that she DID means she should be locked up MUCH longer.
Wow. I agree 100%
How in the world??? WHY is this judge still on the bench???

She's unlikely to do it again? And this is relevant HOW? Are murderers likely not to dig up their victims and kill them again?

This woman should be in prison for the rest of her life.

Actually, funny enough, murderers have one of the lowest rates of recidivism of any class of criminals, yet their sentences are the most severe (or most permanent when they get the needle). In this particular case, what this mother did is on par, if not worse than (in my mind) killing another individual in a premeditated, willful, deliberate manner. On that note, the death penalty for this individual looks pretty attractive. In this case, it's not as if this mother has some sort of mental pathology (like many child molesters do). She's simply an evil person.

I agree with the Judge in that locking her up is unlikely to protect society because I don't envision her getting custody of her daughter back, therefore, recidivism isn't really an issue. Like with murder though (which as I said also has a very low recidivism rate), society does have an interest in severely punishing people like this.

Well, no matter what she gets--does anyone really think that she'll make it in prison very long?

Women's prisons are full of women who want to be with their kids...do you think they're going to tolerate someone who willingly hurt her daughter?

I bet it was for crack, if not meth.

When I heard about Saddam's hanging, I could only think about how much I would allow such monsters to endure such capital punishment instead of the needle and the poison...let her be restrained FOREVER!!

Ten years is just a complete joke....can it be changed??
