Thanks again all.
I spent the past few hours reading up on national coverage on the whole thing and while the damage is severe in some areas, I'm glad to say that things could have been a whole lot worse. It was Sunday morning when most people were just getting up, just getting ready to go to church, etc. I can only imagine what it would be like had it happened when the roads were more populated. I'm thankful that my house has only minimal damage, unlike the homes in Kona town.
About 80% of Oahu has electricity again, but a lot of East Honolulu residents are still out of luck. A lot of shops and restaurants in metro Honolulu *just* got power back (it's 8:48 PM HST), but they'll remain closed till tomorrow because there's no point in business -- unless you're Jack in the Box and McDonalds, because their lines are out the door and around the corner!
Earlier, I invited some friends to come over for dinner and a hot shower since we've been up for 4 hours now. Funny how they didn't go straight to the dinner table...they all attacked my laptop because they wanted to check email and MySpace!
