I have to say that I am not a pi phi, and that yalls chapter at baylor is not so hot. lots of girls de-pinning and a total breakdown in unity within the chapter. they did not take near quota the year i pledged. last year, during pref parties, the only things that the pi phis said was that kappa was horrible and that all of their friends (rushees) were cutting kappa and going pi phi. i think that this showed a huge amount of insecurity and no class whatsoever.

That's a lie. I'm a Pi Phi from Texas and I know very well that the Baylor Pi Phis have had a powerful reputation since they were Alpha Omega in 1977. I don't know if you were cut or if you're jealous--I don't even know if you're really a Kappa--but on this board, we don't trash other Greeks. If you are a Kappa, then think of Monmouth Duo and how your nationals would feel if they saw this post. I assure you they would be very angry.

Why would I have any reason to make this up? I went to both Kappa and Pi Phi pref, but preffed Kappa and got my bid. I was not "trashing" yall, I said not so hot. There is not derogatory meaning except not so hot. Yes, the chapter at Baylor has been very strong, until recently (2 years ago). Then, factor in the examples that I stated in my previous post. Its true, whether you want to believe it our not. We had numerous girls telling us the same thing about the pref day incident. This was when they had first pledged, and had no connection to each other, except just recieving bids from kappa that weekend. Sorry if you still think I am lying, call the chapter and ask them how many girls have de-pinned in the last 2 years, it won't bother me. And speaking of Monmouth, ask the chapter about the "Lastmouth" shirts they printed up last year. Not something your Nationals would be too proud of, I think. There is now no more Monmouth at Baylor, thanks to that stunt. Sorry if you still feel I am bashing yall, I am not. This letter is just a response to being called a lier. No harn meant, only speaking the truth!!

You think you weren't trashing us? A copy of this thread has just been sent to Baylor Panhel and Kappa and Pi Phi Nationals. Let them decide.

This is a pi phi forum. Not a "Hey all other GLOs come over here and tell us why we suck" forum. If you have a problem with the chapter at your campus, I would suggest you take it up with your panhellenic office, instead of coming here and trashing it. You are not making a very good impression of your Kappa chapter right now.

I find some of your comments interesting for two reasons:

1) Pi Phi at Baylor, according to my records:
Quota in 2001 was in the mid-upper 60's they took 70 new members. I am not sure what quota was in 2000, but they took 58. In 1999 they pledged 57. In 1998 they pledged 62. According to my records that is near, at or over quota every year for the past four years. Not accounting for those few members every chapter loses each year, in the Spring of 2001 had 247 members. Exactly what year did you pledge Kappa?

2) There have been numerous comments about Pi Phi's at Baylor and from other Texas schools made on this board, by many different people and not one of them has been less then superior.

Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. However, say it being a little more tactful and not blatantly slinging mud. I understand you are only quoting what you have heard, but that should be stated more clearly; because everyone often hears things that are not so true.

Panhellenically,
Shelly

Hi PiPhis:

I'm the moderator for the KKG forum... by the way.... Kappakim, how come we have never seen you around the KKG forum?

It seems to me that this thread was started by a PiPhi to ask other PiPhis about their chapter's rep on campus... not to ask other GLO members what they think of PiPhi.

KappaKim, you have the right to post anything you want, anywhere you want, but you might think a little harder before you go and (1) say nasty things about another GLO on its own forum, and (2) do so under KKG's name.

I don't mean to flame you....or to be my sister's keeper... I mean to be my sister's SISTER and help her to see when her actions are less than "womanly and true."

Pi Phis, you know Kappa has nothing but love for you all....we came up together and we will continue to grow together in Monmouth love!!

Panhellenically,

imsohappythatiama

PS--At Indiana University, where I was an active, Pi Phis ROCKED!!!!!!

imsohappythatiama,

Thanks for posting. I've been sitting back and reading this discussion not really wanting to get into the middle of it all. I'm sure bad intentions weren't meant, but I believe we all should remember the importance of greek sisterhood, especially between the KKG and Pi Phi.

Sisterly love,
Erin

Pi Phi's of West Virginia Alpha

I've been an active for a year and a half now, and our chapter is very strong, very diverse, classy girls. No fraternity has ever had anything bad to say about us angels. Our chapter is 80 members strong, we initiated 24 last weekend. Our house is the nicest sorority house on campus, and it's 100 years old. Alot of girls gave us great feed back from rush, that we might not hold a COB since we are so close to sealing.

KappaKim-

I am sure you didn't mean any harm in your post and I take no offense. But whenever an ill word passes your lips of Pi Phi, you are degrading your family. Kappa Kappa Gamma was founded three years after Pi Phi at Monmouth. We supported eachother. Imagine it was 1870 and you were a founding member of KKG and PBP had been recruiting girls for three years now. It would be disenheartening if Pi Phi continued to rush girls with no care for their sister soror. I imagine that in some way we helped establish KKG. We broke ground not only at Monmouth as the first female fraternity, but nationally as we became the first chapter EVER to go national. I am not saying that we make the chapter of KKG on every campus, but I am saying that our "foremothers" struggled to get chapters where they were today. If they saw their "children" arguing like this, I think it would sadden them immensely. As women we must support eachother. As sisters, we must remember.

On my campus, we tell all rushees that KKG and Pi Phi are sister sororities as does KKG. It makes them feel at ease when choosing. They know that they will join a FAMILY if they join either house. Celebrate this fact.

Remember the bonds of sisterhood and why we pledged our honor...

Well, back to the original subject-

I'm not a Pi Phi, but I can assure you that Iowa State University has an excellent Pi Beta Phi - they're smart, they're hot, and they're hard workers. Should be proud of Pi Phis here!

They still have strong traditions (I think). Our house is across the street of Pi Beta Phi. They occasionally ran outside, formed a circle in the middle of Ash Ave. blocking the traffic, and sang "Pi Beta Phi" song. Do you guys still do that?

Awesome girls!

I'm not a Pi Phi, but the Pi Phis at USC are a wonderful group! Many of my friends are USC Pi Phis and they are smart, classy, funny, lovely women. There is every reason to be proud of your California Gamma chapter!

Washington Pi Phi

I was a member of Pi Phi at Washington Gamma (University of Puget Sound) and I am now their AAC chairman, and I can tell you that Washington Gamma has always been known as outgoing, energetic, and dynamic. They are still very much that way and I am proud to be their advisor. They just finished rush and pledged 3 over quota, with an outstanding pledge class. Pi Phi was definitely the "place to be" this year!
When I went to convention (Houston '99) I was so impressed with every Pi Phi I met from around the country -- I have always been Pi Phi proud but I had a whole new outlook after meeting so many amazing actives and alums. No matter where you go, you can always hold your head up high as a Pi Beta Phi.
