HC when I see this dance, I am reminded of that WB Network Frog.

Seems like another 'jig'.

all that's missing is a banjo, a harmonica and black shoe polish to go on their faces...

Why is that soooo true. WTF is goin' on?!! First Survivor has the teams divided into races, the black children are made to ride on the BACK of the dayum bus, and we have people "shuckin' and jivin" and callling it a dance.

ETA: Did that song say "Chicken noodle soup with crackers on the side"?

I saw the movie tonight. Not what I expected, but not bad. I didn't like the ending though.

That can't be healthy....

I'm but mostly at them. They are straight shuckin' and jivin' in 2006. And this is from Harlem??? The same home of the Harlem Renaissance comes out with hot mess 60+ years later?

Umm...it makes me hope that snapping, leaning, and rocking doesn't stop yet. Anything to counter the movement of chicken noodle soup. Just leave that on the shelf at the grocery store.

Now you know they "probably" don't know too much about the Harlem Renaissance. They would probably say, "I don't know where that hotel is" or some BS like that.

LMAO @ shuckin and jivin, cause that's what it looks like.

our people...

^^^ It's funny, but the sad thing is that your assessment is probably true.

I showed my brother (24) the footage, and he was just as disgusted as I am. He made a good general point about dances from the South: they're easy. How hard is it to lean wit it, rock wit it, and throw a snap in? The Bankhead Bounce and throwing dem bows are easy, too.

The best part: You can respect yourself and your race in the morning. That Chicken Noodle Isht set us back at least a century. My brother was just waiting for the children to put their open hands next to their faces as they were skinnin' and grinnin'.

I saw the movie this weekend....It was good but not great. There were a few points where i was like, ummm, that's not from this time period....and my Soror next me kept telling me to hush.

I'm just a stickler for period pieces. if you're going to do it, go alllllll the way.

How come when I see that dance I think about the part in Roots where Chicken George was stompin' around in the dirt with the dayum banjo?
Sad, just sad.
