HA! Spumante is my FAVORITE - but I'm cheap. I go for the Verdi kind. $3.79 a bottle.

I once worked with a hard-core alcoholic - the kind who was dead drunk by lunch most days. One NYE, I asked him what he was planning for the night, and he said that New Year's Eve and St. Patrick's Day are the two nights he NEVER goes out, because they're "amateur nights". I haven't gone out on either night since!

I did catch some major sales earlier today, though.

I dunno. I have a couple of options, but nothing is really exciting. I have to stop by one party at Nancy's and Farsh's. I'd be fine just spending the evening there, but my buddy Shane is in town and wants to go downtown and meet up with a group of our friends who got a hotel room down there. I realy dont want to go downtown and party with 250,000 of my closest friends. All the downtown bars are going to have lines and every one will be charging $35 cover. A few other friends are hanging out at a bar up on this side of town and I'd be just as happy there. I dunno. It could rock or it could suck. Either way, I'll be drunk.

So, I fell asleep on the couch trying to watch Dick Clark's rockin' Eve and woke up during the 11:00 news. I thought, Oh good, I can still see the ball drop at midnight. Next thing I knew, I woke up at it was 2 something... Yep, I'm officially old and boring. (and now I can't sleep cuz I slept like 5 hours already)

BTW, I stayed at Nancy's and Farsh's. They had an Elvis impersonator and it was great. Fully catered and full open bar with bartender. Got lit and fed and all it cost me was the gas to get over there, which was a scant 4 miles from my place.

We rang the new year in at Trafalgar Square with about 500,000 drunk, crazy people and then watched what we could of the fireworks over the Thames. Sadly, neither of us had any libations to celebrate but it was definitely something to remember. And then because of the Tube strike, we had a long ass haul to the nearest open Underground station and didn't get to bed until after 2 am.
