Someone was painting our summer/weekend house in the Hamptons. We arrived Friday evening to find music blaring and the painter in one of the beds with his girlfriend or whatever. My mother was mortified. Thank goodness we didn't catch them in the act, but it was pretty embarrassing all around. I suspect that they had expected to have the place to themselves that weekend. No one would stay in that room that weekend until it was decontaminated.
So I can feel your pain, aephialum. It was pretty gross.
So who was more shocked.....your husband or the couple?
I know its not funny to you, but I got a good laugh out of this story. You're right.....can't make this up.

You're so right. aephi alum, I'm sorry that happened for you. I'm sure that is NOT what anyone would want to associate with their new home.
But I have to say, I got a little chuckle out of it. I do remember what it was like to be that age, and I would never have done that but I can imagine the embarassment.
Actually, now that the kid and his parents have apologized (profusely) and paid for the lock re-keying, the house has been cleaned, and we're done being outraged, the story is somewhat chuckle-worthy. It's definitely going in the holiday letter...
I'll still feel a lot better once our home security system is installed. (It's not a high-crime area at all, but I'm a paranoid New Yorker )
