Two tickets to an evening show are $17. That's why I don't go to the movies unless there's something I really want to see!

$9.75 .....this is crazy! I am only 19 years old and I can already use the line "I remember when I was a kid and movies were only $5."

You almost need a degree to figure it out:
Bargain matinees daily till 4pm $6.00
Adult Evening $8.50
Children $6.00
Twilight shows daily from 4pm - 6pm $5.50
Students (with valid ID) $7.00
Seniors $6.00
I used to always take the kids to the matinee, but maybe I'll shoot for the 4pm-6pm ones now.

Haha I have NO idea how much it costs to go to the movies because I don't go to the movies.

IIRC, my local theatre charges:
Matinee: $6.50
Evening: $9.25 Sun-Thur, $9.75 Fri-Sat
Then you add in some overpriced popcorn and soda...
Unless the movie is something I really can't wait to see, I wait for it to come out on DVD.

After paying $10.75 on my ticket last night the concession stand guy would not let me buy the $5.50 Kids Combo of a small popcorn, soda & candy. "Must be under 12". Regular sized popcorn is just too much! Movie theatres....emptying my wallet & expanding my waistline one chickflick at a time...

The movie theater in my town has jumped its prices twice in the past year. When it first opened they started with high prices, but nobody went there. They dropped the ticket prices but kept the food at the same. People were willing to pay double the ticket price for popcorn! and now they jacked up the tickets to $7.75 after 6pm from $5.00

Good grief, y'all pay way too much!!!
In my town, an adult matinee ticket is $4.
Night showings for adults are $5.
A medium size drink is $2. (It is large enough that Mr. Silver and I share.)
A small popcorn is $1.50.
Hotdogs are $1.50.
The best deal is at the drive-in that is in the county next-door.
Two-movies back-to-back is $6 per adult. (First-run movies, too!)
A kid's meal is $3.75 and includes a hot dog/grilled cheese/or hamburger with popcorn or nachos and a small drink.

Haha that's why my friends and I usually bring a large chocolate bar or two and sneak it in our purses.
