I'm sorry to hear that. We had 2 chow/labs. Then, we learned that my daughter was allergic & a severe asthmatic. We moved to a place w/ a backyard so that they wouldn't be indoors, but my daughter kept having to be hospitalized (in PICU). We found out that the mere dander in the air was making her sick. Long story short - we moved again and had to put them to sleep. We couldn't find anyone to take them and I don't believe in releasing animals into the wild to get hit by cars, etc..
That was over 1 year ago & I still miss them both. and get sad thinking about it.
We've had 3 dogs put to sleep over the years and my dad has always done it, since that's something my mom classified as a "man's job." It is really hard on him though, he loves his animals. It's always sad, I get attached to dogs.
Thanks everyone. It was really hard to do take him out of his cage and pet him Saturday morning knowing that when we came back home, I would be burying him.
It was really quick though, so I'm glad for that. when we got home, I buried him in the backyard Well at least he's not going to have to suffer.
