I'm more likely to cry out of frustration than out of sadness. Crying makes me uncomfortable... I hate to see other people do it in public. My last roommate would absolutely bawl watching a sappy movie (read, the Notebook ), and it was so weird to me. She had a bad handle on her emotions, like a lot of girls seem to do. I think more than crying, finding the good or the humor in a situation is the healthiest way to handle things. Granted, I tend to shed a tear or two if it's about to be that time and I happen to be watching Oprah.

I drive when I am upset--- usually too fast, but the windows down, music on, and the speed of the car usually calming! There is no room for tears while driving 90+ mph.

Dang, all you women are reminding me of Cameron Diaz in Vanilla Sky. That movie is the reason I wont let women drive when I'm in the car.

Actually, I'm more often compared to Charlize Theron in "The Itallian Job", what with driving my MINI the way she drives her (and being blonde).

i use to hardly ever cry.. and i still never cry just to cry

though since my great-grandmother died (who was like a mother to me), I cry anytime someone loses a love one on a movie, tv show, etc... sometimes i will be straight out bawling, i think this is just my way of dealing with the loss plus i cry sometimes when something upsets me when I am pmsing (it could be something that normally wouldn't make me cry)

I do feel tons better though after crying, just letting it all out

I thought "Vanilla Sky" was a piece of crap. I saw it four years ago when it came out. I was so excited about it cause I love head trippy movies, but that movie was a little much. Lately, Tom Cruise has not been of much interest to me lately, but that is beside the point.

When I am under a tremendous amount of stress (happens often when I am driving), I will just bawl. It is very relaxing (and painful). Some people scream their lungs out, I just cry. Honestly, I could be raving mad, cry for a few min., then I feel rejuvinated. I dont do this in public. But crying is one of my solutions to de-stress my body. However, sometimes I take it to far and get migraines.
I have been learning other ways of relaxing, so I am not completely a lunatic.

I don't cry, not ever. Yes, I'm a freak of nature

When I was growing up, my family was really big on the "don't ever let anyone know you're hurting because they'll think you're weak" and "you have to toughen up" schools of thought. So my sister and both learned to suck it up and hide whatever we were feeling.

Somehow she's no longer like that, but I'm still pretty stoic in most situations. This was very frustrating for my chapter's Rush Chairmen, especially during Pref parties. (Tracy, can you please try to show some emotion???)

One more thing: As far as crying to manipulate, my MIL wins the prize for that one. She was the only female in a house with Mr. KR, his two brothers and their dad so she learned that all she had to do was turn on the waterworks to get what she wanted. When she and I had a disagreement concerning the wedding guest list, she tried that with me but I let her know that it wasn't going to work (and was really pi$$ing me off) and to cut it out. People like her give women a bad name.

I hate crying. It dries out my contacts. But it never fails--when I get angry or frustrated, I start bawling! Aaargh.

For manipulation, relief, "letting it out"...yes. But how many of those things are fun activities? I tdon't think that's the right word, but it's definitely not always genuine.
