Do women cry for fun?

Every time I think I've got women figured out something like this comes up. Ive recently been informed that women cry for fun....something about letting everything go. Is this true? And if it is, how many of you do it?

I wouldn't say I do it fun, but it can be cathartic just to let it all out.

Then again, I cry if someone looks at me cross eyed on a normal basis. Add in extra pregnancy hormones, and I average about 3 crying jags per day.

I suck.

I'd have to say yes - oftentimes...and I'm a woman myself. I hate to see grown ass women bawling in public over minor issues. It's different if it's hormones, grief, or severe pain. Too many times I see women use tears to manipulate.

No, I don't cry for fun. It's been two or three years since I cried (not counting when i'm PMSing, lol). Even then I didn't do it in public.

Not really, just overly emotional. It's a family trait.

And I've come to the conclusion that pregnancy makes me insane.

I thought women eat ice cream when they feel down. They don't?

So basically you overreact, right? Is your overreacting a result from being pregnant or are you always like that? I know you said its a family trait but I'm having a hard time understanding that one. My mother overreacts on a lot of things and my father does on insignificant stuff (oddly enough he doesnt flip out when major shit hits the ceiling), but I don't overreact at all.

I tend to cry not only if I'm upset, but out of frustration, joy, stress, etc. I rarely yell and scream, I usually just excuse myself, and go someplace, cry for a few minutes, and then I'm good. I say it's a family trait b/c my mom and grandmother do the same thing. My great grandmother used to tell my mom that her tearducts were too close to her bladder.

Normally, I might overact a little. But being pregnant (I did this with my daughter, too), I do tend to blow things way out of proportion at times. It's basically like my stress level jumps up about 5 times what it normally is, and lots of little things that wouldn't normally concern me bother me.

I don't cry for fun, I don't especially like to cry. I usually just get quiet when I'm down (which is unusual for those who know me) :o

Tears help relieves stress

Interesting article about tears in the Boston Globe

Here is an article that helps explain the nature of tears and crying.

Crying helps release hormones that relieve physiological stress on the body.

Living a woman's life, it figures we cry more!

Crying in public....ummm.....NO…the only time I cry in public is at a funeral.

But you know...nothing is wrong with a good cry, once in a while.

I haven't had a good cry in years, I used to have them twice a year, just to let it out and it wasn't at the drop of a hat, I don't understand how people can cry at a drop of a hat.

I just usually sit in my room think about some things and just cry, it doesn't last long, I don't throw hissy fits and after the cry is over, I go about my business. But mostly I turn on some really hard pounding music.

I love listening to music, but I have found myself listening to it more and more and I think that has "relieved some of the good cry mechanism”

Probably. I forgot to mention that I drive really fast when I'm upset, too.
