I have to disagree with this. I thought Katie Holmes was the worst thing about this movie. I don't think she's that good of an actress. She's the female version of Kevin Costner...always playing the same person.

Overall I liked the movie. It was much darker than the others, which is great. Not too campy, although sometimes campy can be entertaining.

Yes, I said the same thing! I thought it was The Joker that killed Bruce Wayne's parents. However, someone's who's big into comic books told me this movie was closer to the actual Batman story than the other films.

Well...I find it interesting that each villian is the one who kill Bruce's parents. Now...correct me if i'm wrong...but when I was watching one of the Batman movies (the one where Jim Carrey played the Riddler and Val Kilmer was Batman) he mentions to Albert that this character---Two-Face (played by Tommy lee Jones) was the one who killed his parents.

I just wish these people would decide who really killed his parents, but I guess when your like me and can't remember the other ones, this discrepancy doesn't seem so big.

As far as the debate over the killers of Bruce Wayne's parents...pretty much in any long running comic book series, there are a lot of different story lines due to the different writers and that kind of stuff.

Particularly for franchises like Batman and superman, which have spawned off numerous series of comics with them as the characters, it's almost like there are numerous parrallel universes in which these different versions of the characters play out their lives. In a similar fashion, this is what is happening with these movies. Pretty much, you should think of this new string of Batman movies as separate from the films in the 90s. It's almost like the Real World/Road Rules challenge/inferno/battle of the sexes, where you have the same people over and over again in different situations, but the overall goal remains the same.

Herd that they did not signed Katie Holmes for the sequel. It seems that the producers and the movie company wasn't happy with the way she promoted the film. Or the way she kept on promoting Tom Cruise's movie while ignoring Batman.

I agree. I know a lot of people liked Michael Keaton, and I thought he was a great Bruce Wayne, but I never bought that he could have the physical prowess to be Batman.

I thought this was the best of the Batman movies, Katie Holmes' completely unconvincing performance as an ADA not withstanding.

According to the Batman "canon," Joe Chill killed the Waynes. The first Batman movie took a liberty that has sometimes (but not consistently) been suggested in the comic books and had Joe Chill become The Joker.

Batman Begins departs from the canon by having the Waynes at an opera before being killed -- this allowed the director to use the bat/fear theme by having "bats" on stage.

In the Batman origin stories in the comics, they had been to see The Mark of Zorro, providing a little masked inspiration for the future hero.

I thought it was pretty good, too. I can't stand Katie's crooked mouth. It's cute once in a while, but it's every line! And the psychiatrist's "therapy" creeped me out. I couldn't watch it (but I'm a wimp...AND we were in an IMAX theatre!!!!)

I really liked it,too. Although Batman has always been my favorite superhero, so I guess I'm kinda biased. Bale was great in the movie, but did anyone else see where he kept changing from blue eyes to brown eyes while in costume? Katie Homes was okay, nothing to write home about. I do think they could have found someone better to play that role.

I always thought that there were 2 people that killed bruce's parents............. ?? HMM
either way, it was a really good movie ... i personally liked Michael Keaton as batman too

I liked it. I thought some parts were a little awkward, but the story and cast were good.
