One of Two things:
A Memorial Plaque/ Stone on Campus.
A Scholarship in their Names.
There Needs to be something in place for them to be remembered!

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers.
The UBC Greek Community was certainly shocked, this is a tragic lost. George and Karen were well-known and well liked by everyone, they brought sunshine into the lives of all who knew them.
I will make sure Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Chi know that our international brothers and sisters are thinking of them, they will be very thankful I know.
I'm hoping someone out there could give me some advice on what I can do as Panhellenic President to further support the two chapters, and everyone else in the Greek System so affected (we are a very tight-knit community, and have not suffered such a loss in as long as anyone can remember).
I'd appreciate any advice you may have, and once again, thank you very much for your support in this time.

I actually got tears in my eyes when I read your statement. I am SO GLAD that the lives of these two people will not be forgotten!
Please, please let those of us on the ADPi Forum know what you decide to do, as we'd like to support your efforts. I think a scholarship or two is a wonderful idea, or special Awards at your equivalent of Greek Week. Also, planting trees is a fairly inexpensive yet well very tangible way to remember Karen & George, with name plaques. Thank you so much for the candlelight vigil, and for caring. Our prayers are with you.

Black ribbons over letters and black wreaths on the door are traditional morning gestures here. Or ribbons in the colors of the chapter whose member died.

Thank you all for your thoughts and ideas.
George Bush was laid to rest yesterday, the vigil is tomorrow, and Karen Furstrand's service is Thursday.
We have a counsellor and student health nurse coming into the Panhellenic house two days this week, and will be setting up group debriefing sessions.
The memorial ideas were wonderful, thank you again. Once the dust has settled a little we will begin working on a tribute to the two.

The scholarship is a wonderful idea....it will be a "living legacy" and a fitting tribute. That is what DG did after the death of our sister who drowned this past week (OSU chapter).

My sincere condolences
Incredibly sad ~ word of this tragedy continues to spread throughout our UBC Greek alumni community as we share in their grief from across the continent. Richmond is also my hometown.
May their memories continue to burn brightly in the hearts and minds of their loved ones and our entire Greek community.
