Exactly. We have a system that is supposed to put representatives in charge, not career politicians.
You know, it is possible to be a representative and a career politician, the examples of some members of Congress notwithstanding.

Term limits don't necessarily help constituents. All other things being equal, I'd much rather have someone with seniority, institutional knowledge and institutional memory representing me in Washington than some rookie who doesn't know the ropes and who can't command anyone's attention.

You can't become a career politician if people don't keep voting for you.

If the constituents are dumb enough to re-elect crooked politicians, it's their own fault.

These guys become D.C. residents, and believe they are entitled to special benefits.

Limit 'em to about five to eight years, and then say no employment as a lobbyist for five more years.
NO WAY MAN.

You wouldnt want your doctor to quit because he had 10 years experience. Term limits arent the answer. SA city council has 2 - two year limits and last year 3 of the 11 city council men were arrested for corruption and bribery. Most SA city council members view it as 'how can I get rich while I am in here for 4 years?'

How come everyone wants all the others to have as much experience as possible - attourneys, stock traders, contractors, doctors, etc, but when it comes to DC, we want outsiders and amateurs. Mr. Smith was never supposed to go to washington. Read the constitution.

If you are pro-term limits, Tom Delay isnt the poster child. THe poster child for term-limits is WV's Senator Robert Byrd. That dude is like 419 years old. And hes an idiot.

Everyone hates congress, but thinks their congressman is just fine. Quite the paradox.

Sorry, but there is no way You Can Ever Compare any other Professions to Being a Polotician.

Byrd, Thurmon, Gore, DeLay, Gringrich, Kennedys and to damn many others.

I am so tired of these asses who profess to be protectors of Our Rights and care more for thier Own Perks and Money!

Just what have they done to protect us as Citizens?

Change Tax Laws, Try to screw up Social Socurity, mess With Medicad/Medicare, Make it Harder To file Bankruptcy.

Thank You, I am not impressed and vote every time.

Do I sound Pissed!!! You Bet Your Ass I am!

I dont mind getting screwed if I am going to get something back as a Citizen. But, it is getting harder for US CITIZENS to not get screwed!

How much money do You owe and to who? Lost a Business, My Tax Asses left me high and dry.

The New and Friendly IRS gave Me the option of making payments!

Kewel, 50% Interest and 50% Penality on unpaid Balance! = 100%!

Pardon Me while I puke My Guts Up!

Tom DeLay is the Poster Fuck of what is wrong with Our Duly Elected Morons who feel that they are above the Law of The Electorit but not the Good Old Boy Legislature

Keep an Eye On Sam Brownback from Kansas, a Snake Oil Salesman to be sure! Sights on The White House!

1) Tom DeLay is a contendor for the biggest asshole in America. I challange anyone to find someone who is clearly a bigger asshole.

2) Term limits are a terrible idea. They don't transfer power back to the people. They transfer power to staffers and lobbyists. Term limits are just an excuse so that the electorate can continue to be lazy.

Remember that we don't elect the best person, we elect who we deserve.

Russ, agree with you whole heartedly.
I have come to the conclusion to vote against whom ever is in, get a new crook in as it will take a while for them to find out how to be perked up to the eyeballs.

But, the voter mentality is well, they must be good, they have been there for so long, GAG!

Just how many Career Poloticians were wealthy before they became elected (not rich), only one I knew of was John Danforth, Mo. who owned Ralston-Purenia(SIC).

Not counting out the Kennedy Bootlegging Clan.

1st good Pres. was George Washington who did not want to be King of America.

Last good Pres. Harry S Truman, just a good old boy from Missouri!

1st Family Clan of Pres. Adams
2nd Bush, and another in the wings (3)

It's possible, but it's not supposed to be our system.

Plus if there were term limits, all representatives would be equals so nobody would just command seniority.

That point doesn't even make sense. Look at how many people became representatives without prior experience and working their way up and becoming politicians. Does serving 40 more years somehow make you understand social security or does it just help you get more bribes and figure out how to use creative language?

Rudey, I am really starting to like You a lot!

Remember, that most of thos who are running for National Govt. have had Local or state wide knowledge. Well supposedly.

Now, if You live in Kansas and Missouri along with other statess that I am not familiar with, Being on The Dole is learned, not inheratide.

Being a Polotician should Not Be a Career, but fo doing good for your voters.

Funniest/saddest things I saw was Tip Oniel on the tram under the Capitol with His arm around a Young Black Child and I am setting across from Him. The only thing I could envision was You Phoney Basturd!
