I don't think that dude has to worry about using them no matter what they're called.

Thats one pill that even forgetful guys are likely to take I would think . . given the evil consequences of an 18 year jail term.
I would take it depending on the side effects.

Yes. I will definitely trust my partners - but to me, that's not enough - I need to bear responsibility as well. Why do so many men insist on wearing condoms even though the woman is on the Pill?
It's not a lack of discussion - it's the fact that nobody wants to end up with an unplanned pregnancy.

Unless the person is a virgin or has been tested prior to being with you, a condom is a smart thing whether you're on the pill, have your tubes tied, whatever.

I only trust myself. Period. There are some guys out there too I am sure who secretly hope that the woman gets pregnant so they can stay in her life. Also, at this point in my life, I cannot afford children, nor do I have time for them, so I take full responsibility in this area.

I would trust my husband to take a BC pill, however I would insist on a second method of BC. There's something comforting about actually seeing a condom or knowing that you took your pill.
I wouldn't trust men in general, though. They don't have to deal with the consequences of becoming pregnant. A man could just say "Oh, I'm on the pill" in hopes of convincing a woman not to insist on a condom, then blam! she's pregnant and he's disappeared.

Thanks for the public service announcement, but that really doesn't have anything to do with the thread....

But it's totally ok for me to take something that increases my chance of blood clots and may or may not hurt my chances of reproduction in the long run?

Why?
Regarding "responsibility," my partners have been very responsible in that regard. I know, however, that since I'm the one who would have to deal with the physical aspects of being pregnant--the ultimate responsibility is mine.
Any woman who believes differently is, in my opinion, naive.

This is kind of ridiculous. My boyfriend is an incredibly "responsible" person, but he's also the most forgetful person alive, and I'm amazed he always manages to leave the house without forgetting his pants. He forgets to take his contacts out, so I don't think relying on him to remember a pill at the exact same time everyday would be the best method of contraception.
Then again, I have to set an alarm to remember to take my pill.
I think it's just absurd to assume that because women don't trust their partner to take the Pill, it means that they haven't made rational decisions and had adult discussions about birth control.

I would feel more comfortable with a dude who gets a shot every three months, like Depo, rather than a daily pill. I would also be ok with a male patch.
Any medical researchers on the board???? Can you start working on this????

Gotta agree with GP.
Whether or not you "trust' the person you're sleeping with has nothing to do with their reliability in taking a medication. My parents have been happily married for over 25 years. Yet I know my mother wouldn't ever trust my father to take a male BC pill. He's lucky he rememebers to flush the friggin toliet.
I guess it's just inherent in that women are the ones who have to carry a child and give birth to it, so it's a more "real" concern to them.
