I don't see anything wrong. Mexicans are always cutting up people in my area, more than the black people. Maybe it is the same in his area.

I turn around and it’s a Mexican man, wearing really dark clothing with a hood over his head. Well instantly I become suspicious
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think we should re-read it - im sure he was going more along the lines that he became suspicious because the man WAS WEARING DARK CLOTHING WITH A HOOD OVER HIS HEAD.
honestly, im not so sure that he was being racist, just stating the fact that he was, in fact, a mexican, and wearing dark clothes on a desolate street at 8pm at night in fullerton.

edited because i apparently never learned to spell

My Cali boy I'm glad you're ok.

Anyone wearing a hood on a dark street late at night freaks the hell out of me. Heck a hooded man on a crowded subway freaked me out this afternoon. But then again his face was all bandadged up and he kept looking at me cross eyed.....you never know. I won't mention his ethnic background cause here in NYC everyone hates everyone

Angry I'm sorry...

I agree with Syrinx...

Bobby--why did you feel so intimidated enough that you felt your life was threatened? Did this man say anything to you for you to believe that he would harm you?

Did you ever stop to think dude just got off the bus from working all day up at the Bonaventure--catering to a bunch of hoity-toity asinine folks, cold from the rain and maybe wanted to ask if you had some cigarrettes or something to help him out?

You sterotyped him from jump--'cuz he was wearing a LA Raiders hoodie? And you had to bitch down and dial 9-1-1?

It sounds he was the same size as you... And why were you all parking in an unlighted, unpopulated area from the beginning? I'd pimp slap you, like your mama, just for doing a crazy, stupid thing like that!

And what you are saying is pretty fucked up... And I expect better from you. Period. That's all I am going to say about this issue and I ain't posting anymore on this subject.

quick hijack...I hope everyone will look at the posts here and see from each other's points of view. To some of us (me included) there are obvious racial "overtones." To some, there simply aren't. Let's think about where the opposing opinion is coming from.

No flames wars here please.

Welllll I guess you've never been one of those "bunch of white girls in a car" in the ghetto of Detroit. Especially in a car bought with daddy's money and a sorority sticker on the back that is screaming "Hey, I'm sheltered and from the suburbs. I wouldn't know what to do if someone were to carjack me or something so go for it." Pretty damn scary, whatever color you are.

true.

that sounds just as scary as being a lone black sorority woman driving through a predominantly white, wealthy neighborhood...

i mean, like, if you get lost and pull over to check your mapquest directions, people in other cars stare at you as if you're "casing" their neighborhood for robbery (and pretty soon a police car comes along and the officer gives you a slow once over to solidify the point that you've lingered too long), or if you pull into a convenience store for gas and snacks (or directions, lol!), you notice that your every move is being scrutinized...or if you decide to (god forbid!) actually go into a department store for some late night christmas 2004 shopping, people keep giving you funny looks as if they're questioning your reason for being there or even your entire raison d'etre...

yep--i agree; that's some pretty frightening stuff--"whatever color you are".

what was so fucked up with what i said?

did you not read what i wrote originally? did i say he wore a LA Raiders hoodie ?

reread what i wrote. the guy FOLLOWED ME. he was across the street. then he was behind me. i crossed onto the street he was on. i turn around, and he was behind me. AGAIN. so then what do i do. i go back to the street i was ON. and guess what, i turn around, and he is heading towards my direction again.

so I am a bitch for dialing 911 ? whatever. i wanna see you in that situation then tough person. so he approaches me, staring at me the whole time. eyes bulging. trust me. he was ready to jack me up.

so i am a bitch for getting ready to dial 911 ?

i stereotyped him from the jump. FUCK YEAH I DID. who the fuck wears a hooded sweatshirt, with a hood over, wearing all black, at night. and mind you, it was NOT cold! yeah, so i was wrong, i should have mentioned he was mexican. i probably shuold have said latino. my BAD. I am sorry to all offended. but jsut because i said he was mexican, does not mean i was suspicious of him BECAUSE he aws mexican/latino. puhleez.

there were no BUS stops around. cold from the rain. there was no rain. DID I MENTION RAIN? he wantd to ask me for cigaretteS? puhleez. so when he was 10 feet away from me just staring at me to see if i wuold flinch, why didnt he ask for cigarettes then?

yeah ok so i am a bitch. alright buddy. you so gangsta, i'd love to see what you would have done.

oh but thats right. you are DONE WITH THIS THREAD.

so PEACE OUTS!

wow.. I was definitely expecting a ... "jk!" at the end of this...

especially this part :
"It sounds he was the same size as you... And why were you all parking in an unlighted, unpopulated area from the beginning? I'd pimp slap you, like your mama, just for doing a crazy, stupid thing like that!

Reminds me of the whole... "how dare you! and why were you out at a party wearing a low cut shirt and a short skirt!!! it's YOUR fault you got raped!!" etc

that's what you get for hangin' out at jazz clubs. everybody knows those are the places where people get stabbed inside, or shot in the parking lot. that's why they've got metal detectors. the aggression in Charlie Parker's sax and those dry martinis are a dangerous combination.

did you swell up? you're lucky no one got hurt. way-ta-go man.
you're lucky he could read lips, too.
