Tyler, getting involved and exploring issues at your campus starts with face-to-face communication, and not subscribing to an online chat.
Go to Greek Affairs and look at the schedule of upcoming events. Attend an IFC meeting, GAMMA, president's round table, Greek Week planning, or any number of Greek programming going on. Schedule a meeting with the director of Greek Affairs and ask for his help in guiding you to making a contribution of your time, thoughts and talents into UCF Greek Life. Explore leadership opportunities in your fraternity. Whatever you do, you'll be great at it. But you can make the most difference in your Greek community by being an active member, starting dialogues with your friends and fraternity brothers and doing it LIVE... there you'll find real solutions and make real differences. We can't hide out on the internet forever... all we do here is talk, swap an idea or two. Get out on your campus and make a real difference. Good luck.

Greekchat is FREE.
There are not fees.
There are only the occasional teeny tiny ad in the corner.
You are new.
You're just walking in here and trying to change everything. Not going to be well received.
John, the owner, does not have the time to do the things you're requesting. Not only that, but even if he did, it doesn't seem like anyone else thinks it's a good idea either.
If you can't find things, I suggest you brush up on how to do search- the proper use of ands and ors and the like.
And better yet, if you don't like GC- no one's forcing you to be here. No one's keeping you from starting your own site. If there's something that you feel there's a need for, then do something about it yourself- start your own online forum. Don't have the time? Guess what, our admin doesn't have the time either to cater to people wanting their own individual forums. Or the server space. You gonna purchase and donate a new server?
You have a couple threads about UCF already. Like others have said, a lot of schools have a thread or two or three. Which is perfectly fine.
You're coming across as rude and pushy and that's why you're not being well received. We don't walk into your house and tell you how to do things.

I even went to UCF and still don't see the need for a seperate forum for us on GC.
As Sandy said, this is Greekchat. This is a site where Greeks from every school across the US come to talk. If UCF gets their own forum, then every school should and there's just too many to do something like that.

Just echoing ZTAngel. I'm a UCF Greek, and I really don't see the need for this. There are plenty of other places to chat, such as the LJ communities, facebook, etc.

LOL...check my bio before you post something like that. I've been greek week chair, vice president for 2 terms, president and am now rush chair. In addition I've been the IFC rep for my fraternity for 3 years.
Listen, I don't know why everyone is getting so upset. It was an idea. Like I said, if the server can't handle it, then it can't. I just don't like it when someone immediately shoots down an idea instead of thinking of constructive alternatives. Something like this would provide a great way for people at their school to communicate. I'll repeat, this is not just for me. I know plenty of people within my own greek community, but there is always room for more viewpoints and more discussion to make communities better. What people in IFC and the presidents of chapters think is often times far different than what the actual members think.

I also just wanted to say that I'm not trying to be rude or pushy. If this thing doesn't happen, it's not the end of the world. I just thought it was a good IDEA given the magnitude of the site and the ease of which you can find it. (Hence opening it up to greater diversity and greater flows of idea. Something you just aren't going to get on a Livejournal or other messaging site.)
I didn't come in here saying I DEMAND A FORUM FOR UCF. I gave an idea. People gave reasons against it. I gave reasons for it. I thought that's what constructive debate was all about. If it came off rude then I apologize.
I really enjoy this site and am glad that someone made it. Reall I do, and I appreciate it. But I also think that there's always room for improvement in anything that people do. If you don't like the idea, those are your opinions and you are entitled to them. But don't say it's impossible. Nothing is impossible.
(Oh and it's not Tau Kappa Epsilon chat either, but we do have a forum for that, don't we.)

Why are you guys jumping down his throat?
This isn't even a big deal.
Oh and by the way, if anyone gets the memo going around, some of you are moderators and not administrators so you don't really get to decide what the site will look like or what direction it will take.
Tyler, if you want to, you have every right to submit a PM to John along with anyone else who wants to. If John wants to, he'll create another forum or whatnot.
There. That was simple.

If you aren't a fan of facebook, msn, yahoo etc. Why don't you get IFC and Panhell to look into putting something on your Greek Council sites? Something linked from chapter websites, council webistes, the school website and then it would be hosted on your school's server. When that is up and running you could promote it on here. There you go- a constructive alternate idea.

I have talked to our IFC chair in charge of the website and he pretty much blew off the idea. The website isn't exactly a priority. I don't think it's been updated since 2003.

One more thing. According to Greekpages.com, there are actually more fraternities and sororities in the U.S. than there are universities that host them.
It would be logical to assume then that there would also be less forums for those schools.
