Hey it's always smart to keep an eye on your neighboor, especially when they're gun-happy.

Or... as former Primer Minister Pierre Trudeau put it:
"Living next to you," Trudeau told an American audience in a speech to the National Press Club in 1969, "is like sleeping with an elephant; no matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, one is affected by every twitch and grunt."

We just want to know how heavy a sleeper the elephant is going to be for the next four years.

There's a difference between keeping an eye and basically wanting to be us and voting in our election/interfering.

Actually I thought you'd love the reference to another time when Canadian and American relations became strained over another controversal conflict or difference in foreign policy.

Seriously though I have as much desire to be an American as I do to castrate myself... much as I'm sure your feelings would be about becoming a Canadian... patriotism is great as long as you don't use it as a stick to beat others with; nor does love of ones country forbid you from taking an interest in others

So in other words you can't keep yourself from interfering and are jealous of America since Canadais but a mouse next to an elephant. OK got it.

What you say is fair. America's politics do have a huge influence on Canada. It's inescapable. Especially since NAFTA.

I can see what Coop is saying here though. It's legitimate. Interfering is different from having an opinion. I think that so far, he's just a Canadian with an opinion.

He's done more than have an opinion. He doesn't just post on an issue, he comes into a thread about the election and posts (often propaghanda, inaccuracies, and lies that I've refuted myself). He even takes a little quiz to show who he would vote for. That is not just offering an opinion.

It's a message board. It's hard to really define anything anyone does here as more than just expressing an opinion.

It is a fact though that he can't vote. I thank him for his opinion. But it really holds no weight with me -- and I hope most Americans agree with that statement. I'm sure he won't lose any sleep over that either.

Fine. And it's my opinion that his country hasn't got the global power and influence of America which he longs for and it's my opinion that he is trying to interfere. Now if you're waiting for him to steal votes from a ballot in America then you're judging by different standards. Oh and let's not confuse facts with opinions - he tries to pass off lies and opinions as facts (to interfere) and I've called him on it repeatedly.

Last time I checked you are not a US citizen and have no say in US elections since you are not allowed to vote. You are a Canadian citizen and can vote in Canadian elections. And nobody asked about your love affairs and whatnot so stop acting like somebody wanted to know your "business".

It's fine if you want to insult me. You always do insult people when they show you're wrong. Now if you'll excuse me I will be relishing in the thought of using my power to vote in this election. Ah it is so nice to be able to vote and have a say. Ah yes.
