OMG! Congrats to you Cayte! I am so excited for you!
So please tell this nosy old ho:
How many women got bids?
How many rushed?
How diverse is the new charter class? Religion, race, ethnicity, etc
(I told you I was a nosy old biddie)
Good thing about being a charter member...you can mold the chapter the way y'all want to!
When the article comes out in the school paper, or on the SDT page can you please post the link?
Again, many congrats
Panhell Love!

Yay! Gonoles, I'm soooo excited you decided to check it out!! Being a part of a colony is such an amazing experience! Have fun getting to know all of your new sisters! It takes a LONG time to get everyone straight, but I promise it'll happen! It's amazing!
Greek Love,
CJ

we actually will not know for sure how many girls accepted bids, but 125 were extended. There were some girls who could not make it to the formal pinning ceremony, so by wednesday we shall know for sure!
235 girls rushed, or were signed up to rush and attended the first informational meeting. It was all so uncertain because they expected schedule conflicts, and were all trying to work around it all. Plus, many families wanted to be with their daughters during hurricane francis, so they took that into consideration for some no shows here and there, and like I said, they tried to work around all of the crazy schedules.
The thing I love MOST about SDT is how diverse we seem to be. Honestly in the south, you tend to get the cookie cutter girls all rushing... and even the chapters have these stereotypes they recruit by. (EX: tri-delts like tall blondes.. I know this personally because where ever I go, I am asked if I am a tri-delt) But I am happy that I get to learn so much from so many different girls! There are some jewish gals, but for the most part everyone is pretty diverse in that area. There are a lot of brunettes a lot of blondes, a couple of red heads... and everything in between! So it's great! We will know all of the logistics for certain by wednesday!
I know jenni! where is her thread?
I think i may want to try and head up the PR chair. I have already created a press release for our up coming bowling night, just to give a heads up to the campus paper about the new girls on campus..... any other PR suggestions?

What's Jenni's username? I don't remember anyone but Nolegirl17 goign through rush for SDT @ FSU.
GONOLES I'm happy that your happy. I love my sisters and one of the main reasons why I loe them is because they are all so diverse. Get involved early, and stay involved. That's what makes it worthwhile. Good luck and I can't wiat for more updates!

Gonoles:
First - Congrats on your bid! How exciting to be part of a colonization! And congrats to SDT on a successful recruitment!
Second - I noticed in your location Howell, MI. I'm originally from South Lyon! Not often I would be able to type that on a message board and have someone actually know where it is! Yay for SE Michigan!

ELECTIONS
HMM...
I am planning on taking on a leadership role.. and the elections are taking place at our first chapter meeting on SUNDAY. I am torn between the PR chair (and PR is my major) and the Panhellenic Rep.
Can anyone tell me a bit about their experiences with these positions.. or what they know about them? I have always been really great at self advertising.. so I'd be a great PR chair.. but I think that the Panhel rep. is basically a self-advertisment since it is important how the rest of the greeks on campus veiw our colony. I think I would be good at both... so *sigh* i am equally torn.
any suggestions?
Oh.. just to keep you all updated; we had bowling night on wednesday.. quite fun! I like a lot of the girls. SoME aren't as friendly as I would HOPE.. but I am sure it's like that with every org.
much love,
Cayte

In every org your going ot have people that you get along with, and people you won't. Thats just how life is.
Panhell Rep is great because it forces you to do a lot of interacting with other Greeks, but choosethe one that you feel you will be better at
Glad to hear that your enjoying yourself so far

Since PR is your major, I'd try to go for PR. Not only will you immediately be able to apply stuff from class to the position, if elected, you will also be able to put that experience on a resume when applying for real-world positions.
As always, you need to make the choice that your heart/fate/God/etc. leads you to, but that's my 2 cents.

I am the panhel rep!
Now we have all of our executive board elected! It took us 4 hours at chapter tonight to elect ONLY the exec. offices.... but it's finally done! I am proud to say that I hold a SDT exec. office, but more importantly it is the one that I truly wanted!
I think we are on our way to becoming a great foundation for future sisters at FSU!
