I can't do it now, I did it when I taught a cross cultural counseling course. I got 8 of 20 then but I'm sure if I retook it I'd jack it up now.

The biggest lesson in this exercise? Never judge a book by its cover. For real.

Appearances do not determine race. This is a faulty test. Without knowing the cultural background of these "blended" people, it is just guesswork to determine what they consider themselves to be. Hispanic/Latino is not a race, it is a cultural category. Most Mexican-Americans are primarily descendants of American Indians. Race is primarily a social/cultural construct in the U.S. and not a scientific one.

How easy is it to group people into “races” based on appearance? What about using individual traits? Does everybody classify the same way?

Try your hand at "sorting" individuals and see if it matches how people think of themselves.

I beleive that I am pretty good at determining someones racial background (not necessarily cultural) but I only identified 6/20 properly. I wish that I could have enlarged the pictures; I am sure I would have done better
