I'm having a pretty nice day. It's 80 degrees and sunny where I am, and I am enjoying life. I am part of a marvelous, strong SISTERHOOD, as are many fellow members of GC. We're out here serving our communities and trying to do our part to make things better.

You know...I really don't get how these so-called "interests" come on here getting snappy with people who already have what they are striving for. I'm sooooo weary of these posts that drip of sarcasm masked by stupid ass smilies.
I'm gonna need you to GTFOOHWTBS.
Oh, and Have a nice day!

I've been worn out for a long time with this type of attitude. Fortunately, I don't see that much of it on GC, but when it does crop up, it is irritating. And yes, I was irritated with the original poster.
ETA: I noticed that the poster went back and edited what it said. Sorry, the quote feature is a beautiful thing and you can't take it back.

Really though, all that "innocence" is stunningly unimpressive.

Well let me go back, copy and paste the original question and answer the original question.
That's my kind of thing and I would have given you a real answer.
My advice would be to join neither for two reasons.
1) Neither DST nor AKA is truly in your heart. It may be part of your family or what you see in your community but not truly in your heart. You are trying to make a decision based on who we feel is the best of the two biggest. Of course everyone is gonna think their own view. Whether they say it or not is definitely a whole nother conversation.
2) Based on the fact that you are undecided, in my opinion, means you need to wait three to five more years before you decide anything one way or another. I'd much rather you do something as part of an Alumnae/Grad chapter you feel good about, than to fathom the thought that you may have serious regrets about your affiliation. Rushing to make a choice to beat graduation is the wrong way to go. While the social benefits may be different your impact on the community and world will be the same.
To all my SisterGreeks who responded. I understand your fervor and energy and applaud your desires to "educate" frost84 but sometimes the best way to address a questionable question is to give a simple answer or provide an appropriate resource or to say nothing at all. In my opinion, and yes this is coming from a practicitioner(sp) of back and forth, we do nothing to improve our image as the "Talented Tenth" when treat "innocent" although poorly phrased questions with low to no regard.
To frost84 I ask that you look within yourself for the answer. We all are looking for well rounded individuals who possess leadership qualities that can enhance our organizations. My question is what do you have that you can offer DST or AKA on your campus that they don't have now? And which group do you see that shares your vision of culture, community, service, scholarship and sisterhood?
When you can clearly answer those two questions you will then have the answers you seek here.
Good Luck with your research and reflection.

Yall need to stop. Frost asked a simple question and wanted a simple answer. If you didn't want to answer, like myself, then dont. Some of yall kill me with your antagonistic ways on this board. Fakin like you're so active and you do so much service in the community. Trying to down someone for asking basic questions in the name of so called discretion. But some will be quick to discuss openly other issues that I considered totally inappropriate for a public forum (like the sisters debating whether or not a member should disassociate).
Look, pay your dues and get a life. If you have a post count in the thousands, that says a lot bit about your so called greek experience.

I choose to no longer respond to the comments which I feel are unnecessary and at times inappropriate. I will let you ladies continue to entertain yourselves and make a mockery of my question while attempting to boost your own ego. I am a very sincere person and I greatly appreciate all relevant and informative responses to my question. Laidbackfella thank you for your honest opinion. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question and giving me a bit of advice at the same time. Your response was very helpful to me. Ramrod thank you too. I appreciate your comments and accurate insight. It seems many people forget that at one point and time they too were in my shoes and now that they have achieved their goals(as far as sororities are concerned) feel superior. That's ok because for the many people that are like this there are also others that have not forgotten and will lend a helping hand.
Thanks again to all whose responses have helped me. Peace to all and God bless.

*Acedawg turns up the stereo playin' Atomic Dog*
Hey man, I think we all need to set out a hop or a party walk of some sort.
So, who's starting the next thread....where's the love?

read the boards
Some of us have been here for years and seen where this discussion goes. Do a search. There are VERY good reasons why we don't discuss these things on GC.
Fellas, y'all are cool with me, but you're just oo new to GC to understand our frustrations with this question.

Please don't tell me I don't understand because I disagree.
I've been on GC since 2001, just like you.
