Akers is past her prime - you could make the case at one point that she was the top women's soccer player in the world, but not the greatest athlete today.

As far as Brady - very good football player, definitely not the greatest athlete today. The guy is a hell of a leader and can play though.

Love 'em or hate 'em, some great athletes: Roger Clemens, Lance Armstrong, Pat Tillman, Brett Favre, Curt Schilling, Shaquille O'Neal

Armstrong to pursue 7th Tour de France victory

Amazing!

AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF

Wednesday, February 16, 2005

Lance Armstrong will ride for a seventh consecutive Tour de France title.

After months of saying that he would hold off a decision until May, the 33-year-old Austin resident made the Tour announcement Wednesday on his fan Web site, Thepaceline.com, and on the site of his new Discovery Channel cycling team.

Armstrong also announced that he will ride again in the Tour de Georgia on April 19-24, giving American fans a chance to catch him in action at home.

He'll start his cycling season March 6 in the seven-day Paris-Nice race in France and April 3 in the Tour de Flanders in Belgium.

His schedule includes no races between the Georgia event in April and the Tour de France, which begins July 2.

He said he may add races to his schedule if his fitness permits it.

"I am excited to get back on the bike and start racing, although my condition is far from perfect," Armstrong said in a statement on the Web sites.

And you may be able to see him play again.....

Judge rules Ricky Williams owes millions to Miami Dolphins

MIAMI, Feb 15 (AFP) - Ricky Williams must repay the Miami Dolphins 8.6 million dollars in bonus money he received from the American football club, a federal judge ruled here Tuesday, according to news reports.

The controversial running back, who retired without warning last July, must return the money after federal judge James Cohn upheld an arbitrator's decision from September, saying the ruling was not excessive and was legal.

Williams rushed for 3,225 yards and 25 touchdowns in two seasons with the Dolphins. His absence was a major blow for the Dolphins, who went 4-12 last year in the National Football League.

The amount Williams owes includes 5.3 million dollars in contract incentives paid over the past two years to Williams and 3.3 million dollars from a pro-rated signing bonus paid to him by New Orleans, which took him in the 1999 NFL Draft.

It takes a real athlete to pose in a wedding dress with Mike Ditka on a sports magazine.

Plus think of the hardships he faced...being homeless in the badlands of Australia and then wanting to give back to humanity by studying alternative medicine or whatever it is he's learning.
