Anyone just "settling"?

Just goes to show you if I did not settle, I would still be in the same boat, 35 years old, single and lonely wondering where all the good men are in the wilderness of America...

What does "settling down" mean anyways?

I consider settling to mean that you are accepting a sub-standard relationship just to have someone. I don't think that what AKA_Monet is describing is 'settling'. Settling means, he doesn't treat you as well as you deserve, or, he is a just a friend really, with no passion, or, it is just sex and no real friendship there, etc. AKA_Monet describes being open minded about "your type", I think. If there is not a good balance of passion, friendship, thoughtfulness and committment in a relationship, I think it is doomed.
