I'm sorry, but why are you doing all that for the boys? Wouldn't it make sense to do more stuff for your own chapter with your extra energy? Or spread it around the greek system?

I mean fraternities do have sweethearts but it was often just a girl friend of the president or exec board member, who came to stuff because her boyfriend was there.

You sound, and please forgive me, like a frat rat or a chapter groupie.

Mind you, there is nothing wrong with that, I just don't understand the motivation.

For the most part, i'm very supportive of their chapter already, so helping plan or decorate events has already been part of my repertoire for the past few years...

i just wanted to know if there was something that the sweethearts DON'T do that the boys might want to see them do ... like something we haven't thought of yet
(let's keep it G rated though!!)

in regards to taking any offense, please dont worry about me... i REALLY don't get offended very easily, and if by chance i do, it will be apparent.. i can't sugar coat my sarcasm!

Let me CLEAR the air...

I am (in my humble opinion) an EXCELLENT sister within my chapter.

I have been an ACTIVE sister for the past four years (and continue to be), I have FOUR beautiful little sisters, and have held numerous positions in my chapter ranging from guard, treasurer, vice president, rush chair... AND i currently hold the homecoming chair & Assistant New Member Educator positions.

I am faithful to MY LETTERS and represent and hold them above ALL else...

I attend just about EVERY event my chapter holds, and have missed fewer than 6 chapter meetings since my initiation. I have volunteered at convention 2000, and will be attending convention 2004 this summer!

In addition to being an active member within my chapter, i am an active member of the FIU community, and have been a part of Dance Marathon at FIU for the past four years and served on its E-board as well ... unfortunately, since i am graduating this December, i cannot take part in DM 2005 next year

I THRIVE on being busy, and being kept occupied...

I admit I dote on the men of the Delta Zeta chapter more than I should, but I will never place any organization before the one I CHOSE to join. I was originally introduced to the chapter via my Big who spoke volumes about these men, and lo and behold, a semester later, my friends from highschool decided to join, and I just became very close to the chapter...

I'm not going to lie, I take pride in the fact that I know more alumni and brothers of the chapter than perhaps, some of the new brothers do... and I relish every moment shared with their chapter.. those memories in addition to those shared with my beautiful chapter are the ones that are forever embedded into my memories...

These men treat me as one of their own, and I am HONORED to "represent"them as well... for FOUR years, I have been known as "Carolina the DphiE" and quite honestly, things haven't really changed a bit...

All in all, I am DAMN PROUD of who I am and the organizations I represent, and I apologize profusely for the extremely long resume resembling post!

(BTW- i LOVE controversy, James.. keep it coming!)

a few years ago I was the "Kappa Delta King". that is pretty much equivalent to a sweetheart i guess. although, I wasn't really a sweetheart. only reason I was deemed Kappa Delta King was because they held a "dude pagent" for their Shamrock Project and I won. they even put me in their composite.

none the less, some of the KDs could care less that i won. haha. its funny but it is true. as far as what i did? well, i guess i just did the lame thing of giving them cookies and candy at their meetings. i wuold sing to them, write poems for them, do a ilttle dance. tell them a joke. actually. it was really fun being their " King".

I have, but I thought the term FRAT RAT was a term used to describe a guy from a frat' who'd sidle up to girls to come onto them, playa type. Rather, than the girl in the situation.

Nope. Frat rat is sort of the Greek equivalent of "lot lizard". Maybe in other places it means something else.

We always called those little groupie freshman types "Frat Rats" at my school - I have never heard it used to describe the boys. We used a lot more, um, colorful language when we were discussing their shady ways.

That's what we called 'em, too.

The frat rats are often the ones who are always up under some guy in a fraternity, but then have the nerve to call Greek women "sorostitutes."

Does one have to get something material out of it? She just seems to love that chapter and is close with them; I think it's cool.

It's a prostitute whose M.O. is to wait around truck stops in order to get w/ the road tired and sexually frustrated truckers. They kind of lamely hang around and will do almost anything to get w/ them.

I always thought a sweetheart wasn't anything major, just a girl chosen by the fraternity as sort of a " homecoming queen female representative" . Usually a girlfriend of a member who is really sweet, nice, and involved w/ her sorority.
