No, they sort of hinted that D.W. untimately wasn't comfortable with the image of him "sexing da white woman" up on the big screen, or how that scene would be perceived by his fans. They said the same thing happened with Pelican Brief? with Julia Roberts back in the early-90s. He did a sex/romance? scene with Roberts but it never made the final film. ...don't know if he had as much veto power on that edit, but they said this was most definitely his call with Man on Fire.

...but of course you gotta take morning radio entertainment "news" for what it's worth. So who ultimately knows. Maybe Mrs. D.W. wasn't havin' it.

Mrs. D.W. : Denzel, did you do this scene?
D.W.: Boo, you been hoodwinked, bamboozled, run-amok. I didn't land on her, Plymouth rock did

Whether it was Mrs. D.W. or DW's decision, I am glad that it wasn't in the film.

I think the sex scene would have taken away from the story because it would have made the mother/wife and Denzel's character much less sympathetic.

When would he have slept with her? Before the child gets kidnapped while she is married? Or after the child is kidnapped? I wouldn't have liked either he mom or Denzel if that had happoened.

So that might have been the reason for the decision more than any black-white issues. Sex being sex and all

And as far as cop roles for the black man, I thinkit might be that we are over burdened with cop roles in general. They just make it look to exciting to be a police officer . . all that drama and gun-play.

And because of which I have to deal with some cop walking up to my car with "shooters"glasses on and a hand on his gun to give me a ticket for a burned out tail light. They believe this stuff.

*Bells ringing* That's possibly why I might not see this because it parallels a real life situation that I'm aware of.

Would it have been better for you if the little girl was black??

It would have been better for me if the story was realistic. Black man running all over town avenging the murder of a little white girl, that he is in no way related to. Please .

You say it would have been better had the story been realistic...but you keep on mentioning that it was a little "white" girl being rescued by a Black man... ...and I don't know how many people in law enforcement you know...but if a death occurs and they were closely related..the color of the "child" is the last thing that matters... and if you want it to be realistic....you should probably watch the news....its in the movie theatre because its a MOVIE

Key words in your post: Closely Related
Key words in my post: Closely Related

In the movie Denzel's Character was a hired bodyguard, not her father or uncle. There was no relation. Like I said it is unrealistic. I will ignore you comment about it being a movie

I was referring to being closely related to the CASE, not in terms of family..again, race isn't a determining factor on how close you get to a case..or a person in a particular case...especially when its a child.

This dialogue between us is actually funny...I think had a white person come on this board and made those comments about a little black girl....some folks would have gotten offended...which is why I posed my initial question to you..

But its all good...it was a GREAT movie!!! THe older Denzel gets..the better he gets..

I'm not so sure I agree with that statement. I think that the idea of a White man (or man-mammy was the term I used in my original post) avenging the murder of some little black girl is probably even more unrealistic than this storyline. If a white person came on the board and said that it was, I wouldn't be offended.

Similarly, I've also made it known that it is not my mission in life censor my words so as to not upset people. I say what I feel, I'm honest about race relations and talk about it as I see it. If someone is living their life wearing rose colored glasses and gets offended by my comments that is too bad.

We do agree on one thing...Denzel does get better and better. Too bad the scripts for these movies can't keep up with his advancing ability.

Anyhow, I'm with you NuQueen, I appreciate his decision to keep that scene out of the movie.

Ya'll don't agree!
Ya'll don't agree!
Ya'll don't agree!

closely related... related closely...movie...real life...

BUT, YOU AGREE THAT DENZEL GETS BETTER AND BETTER!
