I don't know about SEC games, but I know there were always times when everyone was in a big hurry for chapter to get over, so they could go get in line for the ticket lottery for the bball games. The lotteries always seem to be on Monday nights. You can never make everyone happy when it comes to when chapter is, it seems!

Twenty! I graduated over twenty years ago.
It sounds like the ticket lottery is pretty much the same. Except the first day for ticket distribution use to be Sunday around noon. Many a Sundays it was rather, how to put it, "difficult" to get up and make it over to Memorial Coliseum.

My father hates the ticket lottery... he thinks that it should be first come first serve.... now even if you are number one in line and there are 200 people and only 50 tickets available... there is no sure bet that the first person will get a ticket.
As to Thursday nights... College night at most bars is still Thursday Nights. I know that at Georgetown (which is only 15 minutes from Lexington) we all had a hard time getting to those Friday classes.
When AGD joined Georgetown's Campus in 1999, meetings were all over the place but mostly were held on Wednesday nights. The administration wanted all of the chapters both male and female to go to the same night a week, that way night classes and other campus wide events could try to be avoided for that night.
At first we were going to go to Sunday but that caused church issues again and also I think that Lamb's have a clause about not meeting on Sundays... Tuesday nights were out because that is a big night for classes, Thursday's were out because of the item mentioned above and no one is going to meet on Friday or Saturday night... leaving Monday night as the only available night.

Thursday night used to be a big bar night on campus...everyone went to The Keg...that is until the bar became no smoking. People stopped going. They actually had to turn saturday nights into an all ages night because they were losing money.
Anyway, our chapter was always scheduled around our members class schedules. So potentially it could change every semester.

According to Yahoo! Maps, it's 12.8 miles from the Georgetown campus to Two Keys. Not bad at all.

The various bars in Campustown have made sure that there are specials going on every night of the week.
Moday: Tea night ($2.00 Long Island Ice Teas in assorted flavors)
Tuesday: Two-fers
Wednesday: $1 burgers at one place from 4-7, mug night everywhere else
Thursdays: Thirsty Thursdays--every bar had different specials
Friday: $.25 draws, $1 bottles, penny pitchers, etc. . .
It's a wonder I ever made it to class some days!
Our chapter was on Monday nights, fwiw.

Or possibly even a shindig or lollapalooza.
Perhaps it'll be a hootshinpaloozaree. I don't know.

Yeah, I miss Taco Tuesdays at Compadres.
You can't go wrong with $2 Coronas and Margaritas and $1 tacos.

Stingles
There use to be a bar in Lexington in the Chevy Chase area called Stingles. Not sure what is there now, but it was across from Charlie Brown's.
Stingles had a Happy Hour each Friday afternoon with three-fers for the price of $0.80. Yep - eighty cents for three hard liquor drinks.
Since this was back in the - ahem - disco era, Stingles' dance floor would become quite popular as happy hour progressed. Needless to say, after a few Singapore Slings you were ready to Get Down and Boogie.
