Update time:
We have an official date and location.
May 7th 2005
The Davenport Club in New Rochelle, NY
The library in the Davenport - a good place for the guys to drink some scotch or something!
And the view of Long Island Sound from the patio where cocktail hour will be.
Nothing else planned yet. Now that this is done, I have plenty of time to relax. Next is dress shopping, though, and that should be fun!

Heather - I'm glad to "know" someone who's been there for an event and agrees that it's great! It just felt right when I walked in (sort of like the Chi O house did during rush! ).
Guess what I get to do this weekend?!? Dress shopping!!!! I'm so excited!
Here are two of my front runners:
From LaSposa
And from St. Patrick
I have no real set image of the perfect dress. I like sparkly stuff. I didn't think I liked lace, but clearly the first pic proves that theory wrong! I don't want a tulle skirt because it reminds me of my ballet costumes growing up. But that's about all I know! I guess it will all depend on how they look.

I love the first dress!! It's gorgeous and different! I sang in about 12 weddings last year and all the brides wore strapless gowns. They were beautiful- but I like dresses that stand out. That first dress stands out to me. What a fun thread! Thanks for keeping us posted!

OK, so I went shopping this weekend. At first, it was really overwhelming, but then it got fun, and it was over too quick!
So, I saw that first dress above right as I walked in and I was so excited. I got it half way zipped and realized it looked horrible on me! The sleeves were full length (I thought they were 3/4 from the picture), they had big ugly buttons, and the lace was really itchy. Oh well. But I did find styles I liked, including one that I really, really, liked. It made me look super thin (which I am not!) and was very sparkly. So it's definitely in the running. Here's a pic (on the model, of course). It's much prettier in person!

Nut- Perhaps you should become a wedding planner! Your fabulous ideas just contantly amaze me! I was thinking of hitting a dress shop in my town this weekend, and I will take the above photo with me and demand to try on dresses JUST like that one!
Thanks again!

Update: I may have found THE dress. I had seen this one in the magazines and thought it was pretty, but wasn't too into the pink beading. I found it in the salon in 'pearl' (ivory) with really light silver and clear beading and it was so beautiful! And it had everything I wanted, lots of sparkle, a strapless neckline that isn't straight but a bit rounded, sparkley stuff on the back, a beaded hemline etc etc. And I really like the layered stuff on the front. AND it's really lightweight and comfy, AND it's cheap!!!!! So, now I need mom to see me in the one above and this one and help me decide! This one is SO much prettier in person!!!!!
