okay..well based on your criteria, joey ramone cannot be the most rock & roll person ever. he died from lymphatic cancer. that is not rock & roll. the only truly acceptable rock & roll ways to die are: overdose, cirrhosis, lung cancer, aids, heart attack (under certain circumstances), and other similar ailments.
that being said, i am changing my answer to:
jimi hendrix.
he died by choking on his own vomit. it doesn't get more rock & roll than that.

Joey Ramone-Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't he known as a PUNK rocker??? Subtle, but definitely marked difference.
Plus, I'm sorry, but he just doesn't stand out in the minds of all music fans.
edited here-I'll give you Seger, though I still LOVE him.
Benatar is the classic example of the frustrated soul. Trained and
nurtured in one area while waiting for the moment to unleash her
huge (THREE OCTAVE RANGE) voice.
I love your explanation xok85xo , so while Benatar is comfortable with her calmer lifestyle at this time in her life-
Janis comes to mind.
I'll offer another name-ZAPPA.

STILL can't figure out why I can't post pictures!!!

Joey went to the same high school I did.

Yup, went to Forest Hills HS. Same school that also gave the world Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. I did a stint at Hillcrest High for a year. Then my parents moved across the boulevard and I transfered to FHHS. Junior High School - 190 aka Russel Sage.

That dude was Bill Haley of Bill Haley and the Comets.
Gotta go for either Mick Jager or Bob Seger, though.
Don't make me choose.

Roger Waters
-- but the Roger Waters of 20 years ago, not the one of today.
